I'm kinda curious what people think of relationships between couples made up of a partner from a rural background and a partner frum an urban background. Seems to me that the differences are huge. I know that I could never live in a city and I know plenty of urbanites who feel the same way about living in the country.
Can they work?

Sure they can. I grew up in the boondocks......a real country gal. I married a city boy. Lasted 16 years. The differences weren't anything we couldn't work out. I laughed at his "funny" ways and he at mine. His favorite was that I was more comfortable in an old beat up pickup than a fancy sports car. Then we moved to Chicago and were BOTH a couple country hicks. I got "cityfied" living there for 13 yrs.....but much prefer the small town life I have now.

I think two people who really love each and want their relationship to work , be it marriage or whatever , can overcome anything that gets in their way . people can be very adaptable if they want something bad enough .Thats just my opinion and I have been told that I am from the old school . dang it I'm not that old !

I've done both. Twenty years on the farm and thirty-two years in the BIG city. The older I get, the more flexible I become. Now if I could just get my right ankle behind my neck...

Interesting answers.
If you put me in a city I'll become a killing spree waiting to happen.

Lived in Philly, moved to the burbs, now really all country people can adapt. But I do prefer the country living its not so much a rat race like a city.
Kept gun and did travel!

I think almost anybody that loves another can adapt. There will be exceptions of course, but to be with the one you love is usually the driving force.

Born on a farm, grew up in NYC, Phoenix seems like country to me by comparison....I could probably adapt as long as I could have my high speed internet access (but Sponge, please warn me if you visit Phoenix...I'll make sure I'm out of town when the killing starts!)

I think females are much more able to make that kind of change. Teenage girls seem to have a phase in their lives where they become infatuated with the whole idea of living in the city. All 4 of my sisters ended up in the city at some point. One moved back to our little hometown and lives there now. Another lives in the country outside the old hometown but two of my sisters live in Detroit.

I agree spongebob,my own teenage daughter has dreams of...I dont really want to even say it...Chicago.
I really think she would be back in the sticks within a year after finding out her cats, rabbits and her horse couldnt have the freedom she likes for them now.
At least its not Los Angeles anymore.
You know about those teenage girls, next month it will be Paris or Miami.
