been there, done that.. nope, not again
especially when the most prison record was for DUI's  and left him license-less, oh but that doesn't stop the DUI drivers, they just go get in trouble again.

Been there, done that.... Won't go there again.... Found out just prior to kicking my ex. out that he had done time years ago for armed robbery... 
That wasn't why I was divorcing him but it didn't help.

Not me, 6 months in jail was enough for me to decide to quit drinking for good.

The original question is far too general, and it depends massively on what the crime was, whether he/she was innocent or guilty, what the circumstances were surrounding the alleged crime.

Okay Mr. Picky China.
Anyone convicted for example any of the following crimes....
drug related (selling, using, holding)
theft
DUI
any sex crime ( non violent.....indecent exposure...)
I am asking not just in reguard to the crime, but the effect that the prison
experience may have had on their personality.

But still it varies so much in every instance... using drugs for instance, if he'she is still using then I wouldn't date her because that is not what I'm looking for: selling drugs, a major dealer or sold some soft drugs to a couple of mates, big difference: theft, housebreaking or shoplifting? : DUI, serial offender or one-off, does he/she still drink too much: sex crime, there is no excuse for a sex crime, no second chances there, not from me.
And as for how prison affected that person, it really does depend on the individual, because some people can come through it relatively unscathed, but others are scarred for life.

The only person I know with a prison record is Johnny Cash for Folsom Prison Blues and I wouldn't date him because I'm not gay or a necrophiliac.

Nope,people make mistakes and learn from them.Ive been to jail twice and nobody would know it if I didnt tell them.I was pulled over for a burned out headlight 25 years ago and failed the breathalizer test,.I spent two hours behind bars for OWI before I was bailed out.Three months after that following a street fight with a local motorcycle gang I again spent a few hours in the slammer for disorderly conduct before I was bailed out.
Sure the first was drunken driving and I was guilty but I'm not guilty today.
The second was nothing more than a common country brawl.

The one local gal that I could have been interested in sold drugs with her ex husband - they both went to prison (hers was for 3.5 years) got out and got divorced - all that was several years ago. It is all too bad but - I personally have never been around drugs and don’t really want to be around that type. I *think* that was then and not now for her but .........
I also worried about bugs (STD) in her case so - regretfully I stopped picking up the phone when that close to me (only 6 miles from me) pretty 43 yo female called.
I still have to stop putting it off and get a helmet and glasses back from her ............ ugg.
This is a case - looks wise she fits very well - she is close - she is a pretty good gal and I kind of like her personality - but .............. the logic in me forces me to make myself unavailable to her.

I did once. I told myself he was young and stupid(robbery/non-violent), but that he'd paid his debt to society.
We were together 3 years when I got pregnant. 6 months after my son was born, I knew it was time to go. I've not seen or talked to him in almost 12 years.
I learned a couple of years ago that he's back in prison. 2nd degree murder this time. Guess I made the right decision all those years ago. . .it could've been me and/or my son he killed.
So, no. . .NEVER, NEVER again. Yes, LSU. . .I said NEVER!

I've got a question that follows on naturally from the original question. There's 2 guys, one went to prison for DUI 10 years ago because he got caught, and the other one admitted DUI to you that he did the same but wasn't caught all those years ago. Would you date the second guy and not the first? After all, the crime was the same, but one got caught and one didn't, so there really is no difference between the two of them.

In response to Chinabull, I think that anyone that drinks has probably driven when they shouldn't have. I'm probably guilty of DUI several times over but I've never been caught or charged with it. I think DUI is definately forgivable unless he is still an alcoholic and has a problem with alcohol. So I agree, no difference.
