My neighbor got married on june 9th to a fella that was 86 to her 61 well she put her house up for sale moved to houston texas.. she met him on match.com and thought he was perfectly normal.. he was retired military.. had a huge home in houston texas.. ( she had a nice home just not as big) well then it started.. she told me that they got married and didnt "honeymoon" ( make love ) that night.. really not anything that first weekend..well he asked her for her credit cards.. and signed her on to 2 of his and his bank acct.. ( he had another one in maryland) gave her a huge set of wedding rings.. he also took her ss card and her id etc.. he shredded her credit cards and made her shred pics of her dead hubby.. he kept her things in his office, his locked office.. he was acting very sneaky and she got 2 offers on her home that was for sale and he turned them both down.. well come to find out his dead wife was a suicide.. he was well off and was thinkin his new wife had money to put with his.. he was planning to take the money from the sale of her home.. he was more or less holding her hostage..her daughter and son in law went and "rescued her .. he called the police and they asked him did u invite them here and he said yes.. well she got her furniture out and he tried to take her wedding rings.. and an attorney had already told her they were hers..and she also took the " funds" that she had used to move to texas.. thank god she had not sold her home yet.. she said it was very scary.. now that makes me rethink getting married again.. im glad she is back and safe..Sweet N Louisiana

What a LUCKY woman to have "escaped"!

It just goes to show "control" doesn't have age limits.

(and anyone with personal "assets", especially of that age, should visit a lawyer before saying "I do")

Sweet how long did she know him? Did she live with him before hand? Sounds like the man still has control issues and no trust!!!

First off to give a man my own credit cards? NOT!! Second he took her SS card and ID card? Big Red Flags would of gone up!! And locked in his office!! Man this man has serious issues. And yes the wedding ring is a gift! Can't give a gift and ask for it back.

Just glad she found out before her house sold and he told her to sign on the dotted line on the check!

i have a friend who's cousin started talking to this man on one of these things- they talked for several weeks and he invited to come see him at his home- in Nevada, i think- she went, had a great time- beautiful home!!- i think she fell in love with him anyway, she came back home, divorced her husband and went back to Nevada- come to find out, this man was house sitting- the place wasnt even his now she has no husband, no home and nothing left- thank God, i have a friend that is a private detective- i can check out anyone i am interested in

While no one deserves to be the victim of a fraud, I'm having trouble working up a lot of sympathy for her.

No sympathy here for her,,dumber than dumb! Maybe she had her self worth stripped from her by this man,,she was manipulated,,I'm sure. NOT!! What a joke..she had $$$$ signs in her head that so-called "beautiful" home looked good to her. I don't believe in love at first sight,,lust at first sight, you bet.

The woman that Sweet talked about gets no sympathy from me, either. If you think this ol' gal would EVER give ANY man my credit cards, SS & IDs?? He'd have another think comin'. Hit the road Jack,,I don't need a man that bad!

There's gotta be more to these stories,,these women couldn't have been that stupid!!

You make your bed you lay in it. Lay down with dogs,,you're gonna get fleas. I taught my kids there's consequences to your actions..plain and simple.

You're not kidding...ok, I was mixing and matching with Wiccked's post. But no, I don't have a lot of sympathy here either. Anyone who tries to isolate me from the rest of the world is in for the fight of his life. I'd rather die fighting anytime.

well gracie i think
it was only about 6 months if that long. ans since she was widowed she wouldnt date a divorced man.. she trusted him but i beleive once u move in with someone even after you are married they change.. he was retired. military and was a Big guy she was tiny.. so he was able to scare her i think.. intimidate is the word.. i am glad her daughter and son in law rescued her.. but yes it sure scared me.. but she fell for the man hook line and sinker.. some people will do anything for love.. im just glad she is ok..Sweet N Louisiana

Bells should have bonged when he asked for her credit cards, ss card, etc. But thank goodness, it didn't go further than it did.

You cannot judge all men by what "one" man did. That just isn't fair. It is sad there are people (men and women) who prey upon others.
