I'm not certain if these types of threads are appropriate, but after reviewing the Louisiana threads it seems we need diversity...
Did you know that Senator Craig Romero supports rewards for businesses that hire illegal immigrants over Louisiana workers?
Last week he voted against SB 753, which authorizes the Louisiana Attorney General or local district attorneys to issue cease and desist orders to businesses that employ undocumented immigrants...
Your thoughts, comments, and questions are what this thread is for!

No offense, but why do you hate immigrants? Especially ones who are contributing positively to our economy? They're just trying to make a better life for themselves and their families. They shouldn't be demonized. I applaude Craig Romero for having the courage for standing up to unjust legislation when it would be so much easier to go with the flow.

murf, it seems you are normal in this particular aspect of debate. you have taken algeron's post/subject and twisted it quite a bit. like most holy rollers you feel that some words aren't necessary for discussion. illegal. rewarding illegal activities, cease and desist and undocumented are a few that i noticed you left out. do you have the ability to restructure your rebuttal to include most or all of the words you left out? if not, that would be evidence enuff of your "leanings".

I have nothing personally against "illegals", but I feel it's imperative to support the local work force. And I do mean local. By my notions, anyone living in excess of 75 to 100 miles would be declared "illlegal". That may then make non-locals fall under the catagory of "carpetbaggers". But then, as a "child of the sixties", I'm still a bit radical.

...Illegal aliens/immigrants who aren't registered with the social security office and are not applying for citizenship in the usa should all be shipped back to where they came from. ...I am getting pretty tired of peeps moving here, working for cash money, then sending it back to their motherland. Pretty soon, all the channels will be broadcast in spanish, pretty soon, spanish will be the accepted language here. I am so not happy with this. ...A while back, I witnessed a safety meeting on a job, where the workers couldn't speak English. The safety guy read it to them, asked them if they understood, and then waived the application and said that they passed it, how could they, they didn't speak english. ...How can you work safely when you can't read the safety manual, this is just so wrong, and un-american. If you can't speak the language, and don't have a usa social security card, then go the hell back to your motherland. ...If you are caught in mexico, and aren't from there, they will lock you up for a long time, then deport you.

I know enforcing the laws sucks sometimes but if you don't like the laws then there is a process where you take them off the books. America may seem heartless when it comes to disposed peoples but Europe is actually laughing at us about this. Ive seen a few people get deported in Europe get arrested, jailed, and then forcibly deported because they stayed longer on a legitimate trip longer then what they were supposed too. This isn't like we are asking for security check points throughout the city to catch them. The people just want the authorities better able to do the jobs we pay them to do.
