I' m in michigan and just saw this on the news, im looking online for housing right now.
If you work for the state, its likely that you have no job as of monday. Schools are gonna shut down 2/3 of our state workers are already told not to return on monday- thats police, firefighters, etc. AND theres talks of alcohol being banned as well until the state resumes as normal, theyre taking from the shelves because its mostly state funded and taxed.
my prediction: a crime rate that rockets.
I'm getting the f*** outta here.

I am hoping they can come to an agreement soon. The governor has really screwed up Michigan. For some god forsaking reason she was reelected. Guess people felt she didn't mess up Michigan enough durning her fist term so they gave her another 4 years to really mess it up and by god that is just what she is doing. The Union and UAW came to an agreement within 24 hours lets hope our "leaders" can do the same. If I could leave you better believe I would!

SECRETARY OF STATE: Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land has indicated that branch offices will be closed during the shutdown. Online or mail transactions will not be processed, as well.
STATE POLICE: The Michigan State Police will continue to protect Michigan citizens during shutdown. Though all MSP posts will be closed to the public, a limited number of troopers will be maintained to provide critical law enforcement services across the state. Administrative and specialized operations will be curtailed, resulting in the cessation of crime lab services, commercial vehicle enforcement, drug and criminal investigations, detective services, disaster assistance, and casino gaming oversight.
TRANSPORTATION: All road construction, routine maintenance, and administrative operations will stop. The state’s rest areas will be closed. In addition, six of the state’s lift bridges, in compliance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations, will be locked in the up position, allowing only water traffic to pass. Those bridges are located in Manistee, Bay City, St Joseph, Port Huron and Detroit. The Mackinac Bridge, the International Bridge, and Blue Water Bridge will remain operational.

They wont be replaced unless they fail, if they pull through and get an agreement last minute yay for them and they wont be replaced, let them screw up even once and they will be replaced the next day, the only way to get them out of office is to let them screw up, but this time its publicly, not just behind closed doors

I can't believe every body wants to blame the governor for this mess. She is up there trying to get things done! Cleaning up Engler's mess. Engler left Michigan in a mess just like George W. is leaving the united states. So I guess you will blame the next President for the United States being BROKE, even though George W. did it. Plus I want you to remember that the senate is control by the former Gov. Engler Cronies. Big Phil

Well, the good news is that they have worked things out. There will NOT be a shut down. Unfortunatly, they did end up closing a few of the parks before the word got around. It all works itself out in the end!

why don't we abolish the personal income tax and place the tax on goods and services ? the state would never have a crisis if we did it that way. there would be no way for drug dealers and other tax evaders to get out of paying taxes plus extra money would come in through tourism. help from people from other states now that sounds good to me lol. then if someone doesn't want to pay their taxes don't buy a bunch of uneeded things to live your life.

why don't we abolish the personal income tax and place the tax on goods and services ? the state would never have a crisis if we did it that way. I totally agree. they need to do away with income tax and property tax after a set period of time (ex. you live in the same house for 25 years, its property tax free *it used to be 100 years but then they got rid of it all together*).
THEN raise SALES tax and watch what that does to our economy... it would BOOM! tourists would almost pay MORE into the state then the people actually living here. I feel like when our states government messes up, they put it on the people to pay back the debt that THEY'VE caused. If they want more money for the state, why dont THEY take a pay cut, lower personal taxes and put money BACK into the peoples hands (which will just go back to the state anyways as they spend), raise the sales tax and watch the money flow in a much more satisfyingly way to everyone.
thats just my take on things.

Many people asked me why supported dick Devos for our state governor.
I simply said he wasn't running for the money...... He wanted to fix the state, the whole state, not just the Detroit area where so much of our states resources are simply wasted, but that is where the democrats votes come from.

i liked dick devos in the beginning but he was horrible in the debates. he seemed nervous and it looked like he was avoiding answering questions most of the time.
