here's a thought... Christmas, is it about being with family & friends or just lots of gifts & going overboard trying to impress everyone??
for me - it's time spent w/family & friends. our lives are so busy now, we rarely get together. it's nice to catch up.

I disagree.
I think if someone wants a deep discussion they should
START one instead of complaining and telling the REST of us
that we suck, because we DON'T.

Well....lets see.....this is the Michigan forum and look at the activity and content....not much there.....so in my mind that is factually stated.....and if you look real closely.....you will see I said "we" accepting some of said responsibility.

yes well...again you prove my point...had you noticed the very next thread that was started you would have seen that I did respond with ability....is this a typical response and therefore the very reason these boards do not flourish? I am not innocent in this complaint...and I am trying to change it....please read the following post and weigh in on that! Thanks

I prove your point that we suck by suggesting that you start
intelligent threads instead of criticize? hmmmmmm 
Whatever your next thread was - it was not visible when I posted
that suggestion, so any inference you make is invalid. Whether
I choose to find further threads and whether I choose to comment
is a factor of where I choose to direct my limited time, not a factor
of whether I suck as an intelligent human capable of intelligent
discussion. We all have a different idea about what constitutes an
important issue or point of discussion.
That was funny - thanks for the laugh.
It was a mistake for me to post on a negative thread expecting
anything except more negativism from a negative thinker who
chooses to express a challenge in a negative way.
Please feel free to resume your negative life, which is already in
progress. Should you choose to show what sort of person you are
through further negative comments, feel free to do that also. I will
make no further suggestions for alternative actions, as that would
arouse control issues and something similar to a game of "yes, but".

When I said "you proved my point" in a previous thread what I was referring to was the fact that I had started what I thought to be an "interesting" topic....right under the thread in question! In other words, I took resposibility, as YOU suggested and started a new thread (that you overlooked) not ten minutes later......your reply? you said there was no new thread when you looked at the forum.....but......a time stamp on the thread indicates it indeed was there for you to see, read and comment on and...at that time it was directly under the one you chose to respond to! So in reality I feel it is you that seems to be the one looking for negativity. Bottom line....I said the Michigan forum sucks....and it does....its just my opinion.....negative? I don't think so, realistic? Very much so and until I see some real discussion, not just a thread that has people duplicating info on their profiles (which by the way is one of the most popular ones again proving my point) I will continue to think that it isn't what it can be.....we are better than this would tell others about us here!

if we want to talk about something that sucks how about the michigan government in lansing. now they suck. lets put our heads together and figure out how to make them a part time government. other states have part time governments and they do just fine. we are not getting our moneys worth with a full time government. so my question to you all is, how do we get a proposal on the next voting ballet to make our state government part time ?

Yes, Michigan sure can suck, but do not use a 'board" to do it....
