My girlfriend very recently broke up with me and I can help but to feel a little angry..
Her reasons were that she wanted to explore life ( whatever that mean and really it doesn't matter ) I had a long enough talk with her to confirm that this is what she wanted.
The whole deal is such a mess..I don't get why do this before xmas...I even offered to put the relationship on hold until after the holidays but that not what she wanted..She said I should return any gifts I got her to the store..
Someone just help me understand this....because I did love her a lot and I did not see this coming

The holidays, from Thanksgiving through New Year's are a very sad time of the year for a lot of people. Is it possible that she's just having holiday depression, and that she'll feel better after New Years?

Or..the holidays are a happy time of the year 
.. and she would not feel good about herself if she waited until after the holidays to break it off... the timing was more about her..and not about you.. Best wishes on your search here for a new girlfriend.. Have a very merry christmas and a great new year...

I'm probably more at the mad side and will force myself to accept it...I am not as mad at her then at her family.
She was a flower in a very disfunctional family that controled her life.
Father is an abusive alcholic
mother sleeps with men for favors
oldiest sister sleeps around keeps pictures of penis on her phone for her son to see
Second oldiest sister marriaged a guy in prison and also cheats has a 6 yr old daughter that she lets dance naked.. A 15 year who she buys liqiour for and through has been hospitalize d twice or alcholol poisoning. 6yr old had to call 911
Brother who is adictied to pain pills tried to commit suicide on my 40th birtday ( not intentional) and guess who found him little 6 yr old I spent time in hospital with her through that whole mess
A twin sister who I think is turning into an alcholic and is physically abusive to her boyfriends.
I am mad because of what they did I am mad because they robbed her of her happiness and force her to choose..
As much as I loved her and as much as I gave and due to the situation behind it all.. ..I doubt that she would ever seek it for that matter because she would have to give up her entire family for me and she is not ready for that choice.
Just as they convinced her to leave me. Because they say she has changed. Heck I'm happy about that. Her twin convinced her to quit her job why because other twin did the same thing..
From what I understand now all sisters are suppose to get tattoos of sister unity

This is the problem with dysfunctional people, you can't save them. You try to lift them up, but they only drag you down to their level. The only thing you can do is just stay far away from them, and stay out of their crisis of the day. Whatever their problems, it will always be someone else's fault. Someone is always ruining their lives for them. It was just your turn to be the ruiner. Their lives will be screwed up until they die, and they'll blame someone for that too. You can't fix them, you can't help them, all you can do is get sucked in to the drama of their never ending bullshit problems.
Just chalk this up as a life lesson, and get far away from those people.

No time is a good time for a breakup when your heart is hurt deeply......but in the end both will realize it was for the best....and you are closer to finding exactly what is good for you in your life. Breakups affect both people if your heart is true.

This one of those breakups that has been the hardest to swallow. I know that for the best.
I know that a relationship is pointless if one side is not into it..But over all it has been devastating for me...
I really did not see this coming.. She was the last person in many years that I gave 110% into..I gave her the best I had to offer.. She had said some very hurtful things during our conversation..
I never would have wanted it to end but I would have wanted to keep some pure memory that I could have at least said well we had some good times..She had said that to her she was sick of pretending and we had nothing in common and she could never see herself with me.
She had said these things in a matter of fact matter..not in anger or in tears..

Some people you can love near and dear, others it is best for them, or even you , to love them from a distance.

If not-volunteer at a soup kitchen or something to feel good about the holidays again.

Fortunately I have a brother and sister in-law that I'm very close too...I am spending it with them and will be heading out to DFW sometime today..
I know that volunteering would be nice too and I have done that from time to time..
Coats for kid and I want to say meals on wheels but I don't think thats what its called I used to deliever food to elderly folks to their home..
You all have some very excellent advice and I appreiciate the time you all are taking to listen...
I want to be so careful not to let angry manifest itself to bitterness or turn to low esteem

You sound like you have a giving, generous heart. Hang on to it for the right person. I'm sorry that she did what she did, but maybe she did you a favor. Enjoy your Christmas and New Year and keep your "eyes wide open" for the true love of your life
