I am sorry for you too Scarlet. It is one of the more difficult things we have to deal with. You may feel hurt now, but you will survive and things do get better. Hang in there girl.

Wasn't EXACTLY *getting dumped* but the end of the relationship was more his idea than mine. Did not make me hate men but I did take some time to *get over it*.
....and @ 53 it was the first time that ending it wasn't completely MY idea....but hey...Always wanting to learn new things.

I was dumped back in October, instead of just coming out and saying it was over he led me to believe if I gave him a couple of weeks to get "his life in order" everything would be fine. During that two weeks I found out he bought a house and moved his girlfriend in w/him. I don't hate him, I feel sorry for him.
I'm not sure I am able to trust a man again. I also feel like such a fool for believing everything he said, why couldn't I see the real "Ric"?

MG,
Just because you couldn't trust your ex doesn't mean that you can't trust other men. Everybdoy is different.. Leave the hurt your ex left you behind, give it up and move on.. Be someone new. Better yet, be someone better.

wow, hope my streak of not getting dumped lasts until i am 45. by then i will be dating 18-24 year olds. nothing like trading in a 40 year old for two 20's.

How about dumping someone and having that make you mistrust of the opposite sex? Or have I done things all wrong again?

How! How old is this woman? Losing trust in men because of getting dumped once?
I got dumped about 18 months ago.
I was quite relieved because it saved me the trouble.
I had pretty much concluded I didn't want to be with the lady, but was still hoping we might work something out.
She pulled the trigger on the relationship first without any notice.
It came as a bit of a shock and surprise since women usually like to talk these things over first, but I'm quite content with how it all worked out.

I don't hate the opposite sex. However, I had a boyfriend over a year ago who was my first "serious" boyfriend. He hurt me more than I could comprehend at the time since I was such a young-en and never truly experienced heartache until that day, but it hasn't put me off the opposite sex. I am more guarded now, yes, but you will eventually get over it. It depends on the person too; some people are extremely emotional and take it to heart for years to come, but there are those that pull through and eventually start dating again. You just have to give yourself time to heal.
