this isn't my favorate time of the year. after spending so much time in the jungle in my younger days i never could handle cold weather. i am more comfortable, didn't know i knew so big a word did ya hilli, in weather that is 100 than 40. they say its kinda bad out tonight and will be tomarrow too. the last big one was in 1995 they got 20 inches of snow in one day. i feel it is a time of the past with a lot of snow, it don't snow any like it did when i was a kid. i remember going tobogging and stuff like that. we had a crick behind our house we would always go on it and ice skate and have a lot of fun. at the end of the day we would poke a hole in the ice so the water would come up and make a nice smooth surface for the next day. i think if i had a gal in my life i would like winter better. but oh well.

Doc, I don't know how much snow you have there, but my driveway has approx 11 inches, probably more since it was 4:00 in the morning that I walked out to check it. It was still snowing and blowing then.
Yep, be nicie to have somebody in your life to snuggle up to. My bf and I live about 45 mins apart, and with the roads being snowed under, I might not get to see him tonight . . . and we were going dancing too. Just maybe by night fall they will have the road in fairly good shape . . . .This morning part of !-70 were closed, YIKES!!
My little car would never have made it out of the garage, it would have been wheel deep in snow. Needless to say, I was about 1 or so inches away from being knee deep myself. I first thought, when I went out my front door and onto my sidewalk, it had just drifted. The more I walked on my sidewalk the more I realized, it wasn't just drifted, this was lots of snow.
My back deck is loaded with snow. Needless to say, it is all but 19 inches tall of snow. That's the first thing I saw at 4:00 this morning. Quite the waker upper!!! Most definitely I closed work down.
It is sure pretty but, I now know what they mean by snow thunder!!! Had midnight it was sleeting hard, next thing I wake up to is inches and inches of snow. Don't think I will be driving anywhere or sledding or making snowballs today.
I hope everyone else is safe and warm. I know in lots of places the electricity went down..

Dang, re-read my write up, up there, and saw lots of typos. 4:00 in the morning just isn't time for typing for me!! Bet I don't do that again!
And, Doc, bite me!! I know as well as you do, you have snow. I just don't know how much, was too worried about my town.
Jump in Missourians and do tell your first snow story for 2006. My bf was telling me that old timers use to say, on the first snow fall ever what date of the month it is, that is how many snows we will have. DANG, it looks like 30 . . . . now that is dang frightening.
My son pushes snow/ice, etc., and he wanted snow . . . well, he's sick of it already. That'll teach him. His momma always told him to be careful what you ask for. Mom's aren't so stupid after all!!!!!!!
Interesting, my daughter-in-law told me this morning, the first thing my Granddaughter said when she saw the snow (she's 2) was "where's my boots"? My granddaughter was trying to tell me this morning on the phone that her boots for snow had dookie on them. She wanted Grandma to fix them so she could go outside to play. Kids, aren't they wonderful!!

well no logicaly speaking i believe you only got a little bit of snow thursday and at midnight it starts a new day so you got the most of it on friday dec 1st. when i was a kid we usta make iglous. you know eskimo houses. we would take a old box and pack it with snow then start stacking the blocks. well we got it done and i was the first to go inside. then the other boys knocked it in on me. so the next time i let eveyone go in and i knocked it in on them, you know them mean boys chased me all the way home. i showed em a fat boy can run fast when someone is after him. we would stand on a corner and when a car would stop for the stop sign we would grab ahold of his bumper and go a couple blocks then catch a ride comming back. we did a lot of fun things when we was a kid. noone wants to have fun anymore.

lovely, cold, slick, wet, rainy, icy, snowy crap..that's what it is
South St. Louis County: Wednesday afternoon it rained most of the day, evening, night and then blowing really really hard with more rain over night, then freezing rain/sleet most of the day Thursday and that night and then snow on top of the 1" of ice we got all day Thursday, about 2-3 inches of now..I couldn't get my car doors open at all Friday morning, my sis took me to work in Fenton; then Friday evening it took me 45 minutes to get the snow/ice off of my car and to thaw it out.
The sun is shining the last couple of days but it's much colder here than it was 80 miles south of STL, my hometown, didn't get anything but a little sleet on Thursday night and by Friday morning it had melted away. I was out with my friends Friday night and one of them asked me, 'where the heck were you for you to get snow/ice on your car?" I told them and they were like, 'oh yea'...

Chuck:
Yep, Columbia still trying to dig out. Side roads are still quite the mess. I didn't even get out of the house until Saturday afternoon, mostly cause they had not hit my street to clean it up. I went out the back of my house on Friday evening, to feed the deer, and i sank up to my knees in snow. Sort of hard to walk in snow that deep.

I've had the most fun this afternoon! Theres a small incline on the road in front of my house, I've stayed at the front door watching cars land in my front yard from the icy road, watched cars get half way up and slide back down numerous times, talk about hularious, guess they haven't realized, do NOT slow down or stop on an incline.

well years ago they would get a fair amount of snow here in mo but it isn't that way anymore. people forget how to drive on that stuff. and it is really bad when there is ice involved. if we got more snow like this one people would be better prepared. but it will soon be forgotten about all the misery of this snow untill we get another big one.

The roads here in certain places are still bad too... The darn snow plows made a wall of Ice/Snow between my driveway and road so its hard to get my dads 4X4 truck out even in 4 Wheel Drive... Had anyone else heard another storm of Frozen rain and snow might hit the midwest this weekend? I love this weather though, the ice and snow... Cold weather. At work the other day a friend of mine brought something up... and it worked for everyone there. Take the month your born in and for example I was born in February... so Winter. I love the cold and not so much a fan of Heat... well another person was born in July and she HATES cold... but loves the heat. Maybe it doesnt apply to everyone but it did for everyone there... she said the first month of your lifes weather helps decide what kinda weather you enjoy the most...

Yeah... thats bout how it is here. I live out side of the city and road has patches of ice everywhere. Even the city does actually now that i think of it. I went to stop at a stop sign earlier today and slid threw it. Must be nice having a tractor, I had to do ours with a shovel... but only got one and left the other...

we finally got plowed yesterday and tons of salt thrown on it, still iced over, and school was cancelled again for the 4th time. I for one, am still hibernating!
Being next to post, we have lots of people that either don't know how to drive on the stuff or have never had to deal w/it. Its funny to watch them but their a danger to other drivers.

snow is easy to drive on its the ice that makes it time to park the car. i have drove on snow a lot of times its no big thing you just have to slow down to the point that you still have controll over your vehicle but with ice you have no controll. you can't stop when you want to and when you are stoping it could easily skid off to one side or the other. i remember my truckin days and the black ice now thats bad.

i watched the news tonight and they was talking about columbia how the side streets still have snow on them and ice also. well i live on a county road and its not cleard all the way off yet either. i think people are just too impatient and want everything done now that they should get served first above anything else. good grief we got around 15 inches of snow and its gona take a while to get it all cleaned up. the people that plowed for me did it monday while i was at work and they are still busy doing business etc. and they are working long hours too. give em a brake.
