Wow, what an AWESOME trip home this past Friday night, for me, as I cruised down I-55 south to my hometown to meet up and party it up with friends of mine, I was surfing the radio stations and heard a blurb that Ben Ownby had been found, alive and 'well' and not only him, but Shawn Hornbeck as well!!

Who'da thought that 4 years later, that child would have been found ALIVE and able to speak, not scared etc. Makes me wonder if the guy who snatched/held those boys, if he freaked them out so much into scare tactics, that if Shawn tried to run away or call 9-1-1, or cry for help, while out playing with neighborhood kids, that if he tried any of that, something would happen to his folks/family back in Richwoods, MO.

The whole story gave me chills as I drove home the other night. Tonight I called my boys and told them to ask their dad to give them an extra hug and a kiss for me to let them know that I loved them bunches and then I told them to watch out as they're walking to and from school for mysterious cars, etc. You just never know.

Thank God, they're back home with their families, where they belong!

I think that everyone that has heard about this has either cried or had chills when they first heard about it. I know that I had the chills when I heard that they found Ben and Shawn. It is amazing how things happen and why they happen. I was saying the other day, eventhough it's not something you want to happen, but Ben being taken led to Shawn. They say EVERYTHING happens for a reason.

I figure the STL Post Dispatch did a major story on the whole thing, I have yet to read it. I had just read the disappearance story of Ben Ownby on Thursday night and then to hear he'd been found, was just so uplifting, and Shawn too.

well i am glad that these two boys are back home but i have a lot of question. the boy that was gone for 4 years i feel that at some point in time he could either have gotten away or got some help or something. i mean this kid was outside playing ball with the man that took him from his home. i don't believe that the man that took the boys is a physco i mean he didn't kill them and i dont' think he planned on doing anything like that. i am not saying what he did was ok but that the man is disturbed but i don't feel that the boys was in danger of loosing their life. i am glad that they are home now but i feel that this manner needs to be looked into a little deeper.

oprah was able to have the first interview with these two boys and their families. there are things here i agree with and things i disagree with. well first at the eldest boys home oprah did a interview with the parents and a aunt first then brought the boy in. the one strage thing that i noticed was several times the boy would turn to his step day and smile but he never faced his mother not one time. now i believe that the boy had a good relationship with his step dad and is looking to having a better relationship with him in doing the things that teen age boys want to learn about like working on cars etc. both families was on the oprah show in chicago and they also had the police officers there that first talked to the man that kidnapped the boys. later in the show both policemen went to the audience and hugged the boy the one strange thing that i noticed was that the boy when he hugged the police officers he had clinched fist. that is not a good sign. i believe that these boys was kidnapped for sexual reasons. why i say that is because the one boy was there for over 4 years and no apparent physical harm was done to him. i believe that the kidnapper worked up a repore with the eldest boy to the point where they was friends instead of capture and capturess. the eldest boy had access to phones and internet but yet never tried to make a effort to contact anyone for help. he even sent two messages to his parents web site asking a question. now don't get the wrong idea for the only place i place blame is on the one that did the kidnapping. but at the same time for reasons unknown at this time i have many questions of why was there no phone calls made and this boy had other friends where he was living why did he never say anything to anyone someone about his present problem. i can understand fear but one reaches the point where fear is forgotten about that at least one attempt will be made but that point never came. the first thing that needs to be done to both boys is to make sure that they know beyond a question that they did nothing wrong. after that has been established then they need to find out just what went on and why no attempts was made to try to contact someone anyone for help. i believe for the most part that the oldest boy was brain washed for the most part, he didn't have to go to school etc. however i am glad that these two boys was found and returned to their parents. but yet there are several questions left to be answered.

yea, it's amazing that if Shawn had internet available, why wouldn't he try to contact 'home', but like everything such as the phone etc, phone bills and history on a pc can be tracked and he knew not to 'go there' in other words to try and make contact; I don't know about him doing the stuff about asking questions on his own website for when he was missing. I hadn't heard that.

Of course there are many unanswered questions.

My sis came home this evening and told me how a 7yo boy was abducted in California and when the kid turned 15 or so, the guy that abducted him, grabbed a 5yo boy, well when the guy was off to work, the 15yo grabbed the 5yo and ran straight to police station which was like 10 blocks away and now both boys are home safe.

well still no one can answer these questions but the two boys. one thing is i feel that the kidnapper more or less made friends with the boy to make him feel comfortable threats was probably made but on oprah the boy said he sent two messages to his parents web site asking questions. its a shame that something like this happens anyhow. i feel that if someone does something like this they should be put to death so they will never do it again and why should we feed them and take care of them for the next 40 years while they rot in prison. but its like i said in a different post if they would make the punishment more severe less of these things would take place. but face it punishment is never severe enough for these type of crimes.

that's true, doc.

My mom said to 'lock him up and throw away the key'. but they don't do that anyway, cause there's a thing called 'getting out on probation'..whatever.
