a best friend who is a gal (for the women) or a best friend who is a guy (for the guys)
that when you knew what you were looking for, it was EXACTLY what you had in your best friend already, you just needed the female/male version for the rest of the package?
I'm in that boat right now. My best friend Tracy and I love to hang out and go out dancing with eachother (fast songs only guys, settle down now), to all kinds of places in southeast Missouri and sometimes in St. Louis. We don't smoke, we drink once in awhile, we have a great time whenever we're together, we talk all the time, share our own secrets with eachother and don't give up our secrets to those we know it isn't safe to. We both know what we're looking for in order to meet the right guy for what we both like to do, but think it's funny that we both like similar things and can have an awesome time whether we're with a guy or on our own. So have any of you ever had this same experience?

oh i know what she is talkin about a best friend thats the same gender. i got one. he is a amish man of about 33 years old. he is my bestest bud. we have been friends for 4 years now and he is a life saver. when ever i need him he is always there willing to lend a helping hand and sometimes brings other amish friends with him. i will be the first to step up and say with out him i don't know what i would do. we always share a good laugh when ever we are together and a lot of screw ups that we can laugh about now from the past. his name is jake and i love his kids as i do him. they are great people.

The same as everybody else. A friend is very hard to find. I think a friend is someone who doesnt care how you live or what you do. A friend will tell you when you are messing up and give you their opinion and leave it up to you to mend it or not, but not push their opinion on you. They will help you when you need it, to the best of their ability, without hurting themselves within reason.

kinda what I was looking for in replies, but not quite:
Lacey, just meaning to say, have you ever had a best friend in a woman and hoped to find the same thing with a guy, or your man in particular?
Same for a guy: have the guys ever had a really good friend with a guy and wanted the same type of relationship with a woman?

chuck, if you're into the movie, and not into your woman, how the heck you supposed to figure out if she's the right one for you..even if you haven't met anyone lately, how you supposed to find out if you're into one thing.

Of course I'm into a movie if Im sittin there watchin it.
ya dont take a new date to a movie. Ya take a new date to dinner, or minature golf, or fishin, or heck, even window shoppin. But somewhere where you can get some "one on one" time. Movies aint one on one.

movies are a great place.. if it is a horror movie, slip your arm around her and hold her tight, if it is a girly movie, then have plenty of kleenex she will love you for that! then after the movie talk about it... find out what she actually thought and how her thinking goes, you can always find out more when you talk...You got to find a woman it sounds like to me... Now to get back on topic. I have a best friend that is female that is closer to me than anyone else. I also have a male friend that if he were single I would be trying to latch on to..for myself.. he is everything I am looking for in a man, but only thing is he is dating someone , so I am out of luck...lol I always tease him and ask him does he have a twin he doesnt know about!

I think Chuck meant that he's 'still looking for that best friend type of relationship'
I was asking if he or anyone else has found that but in the same sex, not meaning that we're gay, just to see if he found what he was looking for in a guy but needed the benefits of the loving relationship in a gal.

Hell- my friend Joey and I refer to each other as our Hetero Lifemates. Although to be fair I don't think I would want a 6'8 300lb Serbian girlfriend.

oh come on doug, why not LOL
At least you knew what I was talking about!
My best friend 'gal' and I had an awesome time rocking out/dancing, making fun of eachother last night listening to this great band; they played 80's rock all night!
Now I can't wait til next Saturday night so we can do it all again :)
