How do you tell if someone is for real online ? Feel like lot people lie an fib abt themselves .Got feel no one is real online .

Gut feeling, what ever u want to call it will set in for me... sometimes if u just look at their profile and what they've wrote, there will be differences that will tell u a lot too, some can't seem to remember where their from for sure or even what nationality they are much less the age the wrote down. Just have to weed threw them and be careful.

They're all scams! They're working to raise money for their cause. I think they hava list of letters to copy/paste out till they snag one. Many pose as living here in the states. Most dont even know where missouri is. Lindy is right bout reading thier profiles closely. And using gut feelings.
Sumtimes I choose to play along for amusement, other times I just ignor or report as abuse. Amaszing how many of em are canceled in just a couple days. Prolly mails a thousand or more folks in that time.
They want money and any wording you use that suggests you dont have any spoils their plans.
Ususally tellin em I'm a poor horny goat herder that wants a young bride to raise bout 27 kids with, turns em off. 
Then again if you "are" talking about folks from the states? Thats a whole nother story. Yer prolly talkin bout the world of the net. Where folks can be whatever they wanna be. And sadly enuff, lotsa folks choose to be sumpthin else.
Read profiles closely. Read everything in there. If they are a forum poster, read their posts. Heck, try googling their screen name. Some folks have the same name on several sites.
And use alot of intuition!

If ya perty sure they are from the states and kinda act like a real person, pay attention to their picture/s. Look closely in detail. Real people, really lookin to find someone special or just friends, will want to convey who they are. And post more than one pic.
If good chance they are scammers, dont pay attention at their pic. They prolly only got one pic up and its prolly a stolen pic.
I know this cause I am on a scam list. Well, not me, but one of my pictures is.  I didnt know I lived in europe? One of the very few I had posted online without a fish in it. seems they dont like fish. lol And there wasnt/isnt a thing I can do bout it.  I perty sure thats why MD puts their little label down in the corner of every picture you have on.
Kinda hard to erase that part after ya copy it.

well on the pc you can be anyone you want to be or any size you want to be. its your story you tell it like you want to. people put up old pic of theirself and the lies go endless. i listen to what i am being told and i believe the things i am told untill i find out that they have lied to me. remember one thing you can hide a lot of things but you can never hide the truth. at some point in time it will come out.

forme it's easy, these gals in their 20's or that immediately want you get them on yahoo then they are different people. i bit on one just to see what would happen, and the dumbass has sent me at least 4 more messages, all with the same yahoo addy.
my pics are mine, but there isn't too many people that would want to look like me, so i feel mine are safe. just reember the old adage, if it looks too good to be true, it usually is.

Funny, I just got hit with one. A spammer. For lack of anything to do, I wrote back. Her profile and her letter didnt mesh. She lost ten pounds and an inch in the time it took to write me. lol We'll see if I get a answer.
Told em I didnt have yahoo, but it seems thats what they always want, a yahoo address or IM name. NEVER give out yer real address till you've made contact a few times on here. Least till yer sure they're real.

I wont give out my yahoo im or adress untill i have talked a few times an i am talking some und that i not i am not up to meeting right away it take me sev months to even years to want to meet someone i never give out my phone numbers

Did u not get response from person she probally realized she was scammer esp if u confronted her abt the diference tween her profile an what she sent you . I have confronted a few people abt thats .

How do you tell if someone is for real? HA, can you ever truly do that???? Online we can be, as Doc stated, whomever we want to be. We can be rich, worldly, sexy, skinny, proud, obnoxious, fun . . . . . . until . . . . . we meet . . .or maybe not until later do we show who we truly are.
Long time ago, in American Singles, there was a guy that would come into chat and be extremely obnoxious. I couldn't understand why he would continually do that. He always seemed to like me, so, one day, in private, I asked him, why do you do this? Are you not happy . . . . . . . .?????? He told me this was his fun, he enjoyed making people angry and hating him because he could. I found he was truly a nice person, just bored and wanted to see how others took what he would say. I was truly shocked . . .. . I wasn't raised to be obnoxious and had a hard time understanding. Finally, guess he got tired of it all and totally left chat, never to be seen again.
So, how do you tell if someone is real???? Unless you are around them every day, every minute, you can't. It's a guessing game, a trial and error. Sure, some of these scammers are easy to pick up on. All they have to tell me is they are in Nigeria or some place like that, their daughter is with them, they are on a high priority business trip, but they live in the states, and I'm history. Those types of scammers are easy to catch, but, then there are those that aren't so easy . . . such as players. They tell you what you want to hear after awhile. This is another reason I say long distance isn't for me! Having somebody around almost daily is the way you get to know them, if ever that is possible.
Again, just my thoughts . . . . . I'm far from perfect or have the exact answer, but then, does anyone???
Great questions, Lindy. Bring them on girl. I totally ran out of them and was sitting back and waiting on others. FINALLY, somebody broke loose and I can give my input. YEAH!!!!

I read inna blog on here last night from a long standing member on here, that them foreigners are superstitious. And that she'd tried that as of yesterday and so far no scammers. (she'd heard it from someone else)
Soo lo an behold, justa few minutes ago I get one from Ghana. What better place to try out some voodoo on. I'll paste what I wrote. >>
Dang, meybe you could help me. How do you get rid of a Halloween Curse? I crossed paths with some VooDoo gal last night and now I get this weird feeling and then crap my pants. I knew I shouldnt have went to that satanic party last night. But my friend promised naked women. I didnt see any. Then there was this gal that was doin some kinda mumbo jumbo and pourin blood all over her. I was kinda hopin the clothes would come off. But instead she just looked me in the eye and mumbled sumpthin. Now, I cant get too far from the bathroom. Any advice?
Only the part bout not gettin too far from the bathroom is true. 
We'll see how long this lasts. I mean the reply, not the bathroom deal. Hopefully it'll be gone time ta go to work.

Welp, I made it thru work without a hitch. And I still aint gotta nuther scam mail in my box since I sent that out. Mite just be sumpthin to that superstitious deal. Meybe they put me onna ol black magic and not to bother with him no more, list.

That is good for u . I am talking someone new i feel he wont harm me . I think hes genuine an a keeper . I have told him what i been thru an he understands abt am just talking now will wait an see how it moves on .
