Shine your Chevy, detail your Deuce Coupe and hustle your hot rod over to Reno and Sparks' Hot August Nights for a celebration of America's love affair with cars and rock & roll July 29 - August 6, 2006.
This "blast from the past" allows baby boomers to relive the "happy days" and it provides an opportunity for those who didn't experience the 50's and '60s firsthand to enjoy the era.
During these five days of yesterdays, cars are "cherry" and cruisin' is "too cool." More than 700,000 people will flock to the event.
5,500 classic cars are registered for the event from 36 states across the nation, including Alaska, Massachusetts and Florida and three Canadian provinces. Californians will bring over 2,500 cars for this event. Nevadans have over 1,500 cars entered and registration from the Pacific Northwest is strong with over 280 from Oregon and over 220 cars from Washington.
Cars are the stars and rock 'n roll rules through dozens of concerts -- most of them free -- throughout the event.
There is a prom night, where you can take your sweetheart and dance the night away. Controlled cruises and show-n-shines, where you can watch rolling Rembrandts on displayIf you are looking for parts for your car or a classic to take home there is the Reno Swap Meet & Cool Car Showroom, the Big Boy Toy Store and the Silver Auction.

Wiggles of the West is coming up at Boomtown, July 7th, 8th, and 9th. I'll certainly be there...probably with bells on, literally. I'll have a room there that I'm sharing with one of the vendors, but she's fun to party with too. If you want to come, let me know. Boomtown has a large RV park, like for a Lacey and TC sized home-away-from home were to show up. If you're coming to the contest, there is probably a room discount, and I'll check on that, but AAA might be just as good.

3 days to go...and I'm not ready yet, of course. Some infor for those of you coming to the shows. Friday starts at 6 pm and Saturday and Sunday start at noon. Tickets are $10. a day, and $25, for all 3 days, with unlimited in and out. Heck, it's in a casino, they want you to wander about the place.

Whoo Hoo! today is the day! Just talked to Haban and Katt, and they are just about out the door to head here. Of couse, they are still newlyweds and the beauty and wilderness aspect of the Donnor Pass...well, they may just take a "rest stop". Made a call to Pali, as a "friendly wake-up" call...........and no answer, so I'm hoping that's because she on the road.
Well we will have lunch at Dreamers, by the Truckee River, then they will have the Prime Rib dinner at Cassidy's  later this evening. Me, I'll be talking and talking and talking.
After the show...well, who knows what's next....  !

Hot August Nights is gearing up as we write. Drove by one of the main lots and you could already feel the rumbling from the hotrods through the soles of my shoes. If you're in the area..it's a blast...a big, hot, noisy, crowded blast.
