zendiva, if you want a gentle introduction to the world of hard liquor, go to a nice bar and order:
"grey goose shot, chilled but no ice, with a slice of lemon"
you'll be surprised at how gentle it is. very mellow stuff.

I should have said...I don't drink hard liquor ANYMORE. I am quite familiar with Grey Goose and Lemon...trust me! I no longer like the "drunken on spirits" feeling...doesn't agree with me. I have no tolerance...and something about turning 30 did it to me. That...or I'm just uptight. Thanks, though. I'm more of a Beauguloius (sp?) and Cotes Du Rhone drinker these days. Tastes better and doesn't make me wanna go home with strangers. LOL!

ok, ya'll lost me on this one, I don't drink (ustacould drink 180 proof Green Chartreuse when I did) anymore and I don't even live NEAR "Lon Gisland" altho I have a friend that owns a house in Sag Harbor and he talks with a funny accent....
Try this one if ya wanna tasty drink on a swelltering hot day.. 1 oz gin 1/2 oz green Chartreuse 3/4 oz bergamot juice 1 dash Herbsaint, absinthe or Pernod
Shake over ice, pour into chilled glasses and garnish with a bergamot peel twist.

How the hell am I supposed to get a hold of Herb saint, Absinthe or Pernod, Johnny? I thought that stuff was illegal in the states? Besides...since when does anyone juice Bergamont? It's a leafy herb, man! At best, you could make a tea out of it or excrete the oil.
...and what the heck is Chartreuse? I've got some stuff to Google, huh?

As a 5th generation Long Islander ... whose family has been here since the mid 1800s I can definitively say:
Huh?
