I'm seeing more and more city cops on their cellphone.
I know it must be boring as f*** to be on a beat, but that's part of the job. Walked out of the Court street station and there was a female cop yakking on her cellphone. She was facing St. Francis with her back tunred towards the street and talking about how her friend's husband was having an affair.
Sheesh. Monty's could've been held up and she'd never know it....

Please tell me you've seen MALE cops yakking it up on the phone, too...or else I'm gonna assume this is some chic bashing. LOL! I'm kidding.
Does anyone remember the days before we couldn't live without our cellphones and IPODS? I do. It was lovely...we relied on radio DJ's and the kindness of strangers to drive us to the nearest gas station when our car died...or to help us change our tire in the rain. I've even stopped to pick up an elderly lady I saw fall down in the snow. I miss that. Not elderly folk falling down...but the sense of community and responsibility for our fellow man or woman. Sigh.
Couldn't the cop entertain herself/himself with a book or something not so distracting? That's creepy, Null. Of course, I'm glad I'm not a cop. Guns freak me out...especially if someone's shooting at me all hopped up on crack and I'm chasing them...say, into Monty's.

LOL. The cop-cellphone connection crosses gender lines. :-) I picked on her because she was the most egrevious offender I've seen to date. She was tuning out the entire neighborhood.
I wish using a cellphone had the same social implications as ... I dunno ... burping at a restaurant or farting in public. We should be embarrassed to be on our cellphones in a public venue and only use them when necessary, quickly put them away, and apologize to the people around us.
Oh, actually, I just remembered this. Weird I forgot to mention it. About a week ago I nearly got hit by a NYPD SUV with two cops inside while I was crossing Montague street. The driver had his left hand up to his year, and he was yakking on his cellphone.
I always wondered about smoking though. I never see cops smoking, but they must. I wonder if there's a regulation against smoking while in uniform.

My future ex got nailed because she was sending out more than three hundred personal Emails a day to sheriff's deputies while at work as a 911 operator. Her boss suggested strongly that she seek marriage counseling because of the content of those messages. She didn't. Unfortunately this is the norm for our law enforcement. She was having affairs with several officers, all married with kids of course. She is giving up our kids for me to raise. Good to know the kind of people that are there to serve and protect.

Ick. What a story. And I was feeling like complete crap this morning because I didn't spell "egregious" correctly...
Sorry to hear that.

Following 9/11, the CT state police initiated a roving wiretap program to catch terrorists. The program fell under the jurisdiction of an ombudsman, who staged an unannounced inspection. And what did we find ...100,000 hours of phone sex on tape.

From what many attorneys have told me, it is a little more than common in police departments. All those type A personalities and badge bunnies. She wasn't the only one who was called out on the carpet. Just the worst offender. What sucks is knowing things about these guys and knowing that their wives and children are waiting at home for them unaware. My poor kids are suffering for the rest of their lives because of this junk. Married twenty years. Oh well. On the upside though, the guys are all fat bald and ugly. Oh and obviously the lowest form of life. May she get the diseases she longs for. The best thing for me is knowing that my little ones are getting lots of A's in school. I get to spend tons of time with them. I'm the lucky one in all of this.

hey guys...c'mon...like people in the office environment do not use their business phones for personal use waaaaaaaay more than they are supposed to. We do it too. As long as you monitor your radio and respond the next second after your call sign goes on the air...you are good. People have things to take care of also...its just the job that's on the move. Regards.

Thats the way NYC cops are. They will drive up to you with no seatbelt on as they are talking on the phone and give you a ticket for not having a seatbelt on and driving while talking on a phone.
