.....because "ooooooh!! I live in Manhattan no longer means power and presteige, it means that you are a fuking idiot for paying 1/2 a mil for a former apartment the size of someone's one car garage that some jerk off told you is a CONDO which subsequently used to house people under 5 feet over 40 yrs ago, is lead infested, and has been left ONLY for the stupid.
what happened to the women?
the finally figured that guys from Manhattan are full of shit, gay, and aint worth a damn, so they all got smart and moved to Queens where they could at least afford to buy bread instead of feeling like they need a roommate or man to help them get by. ya figure....at 40 they need to account for something in life and being broke ain't it; even if they ARE sporting a new BMW....
good luck in your search...try Astoria, NY loaded with beautiful, smart, needing women.....formerly Manhattanites.....

Popper sometimes says weird stuff, but I'm fairly sure he's kidding in this instance. Without looking at your profile (I hope I'm not putting my foot in my mouth) you look like you're in your late 20's.
As for Sadian, I wouldn't put too much stock into his words. I've generally found anybody who advocates an absolute position is usually advocating a flawed point of view.
Yeah, he's definitely got a point. Where his argument breaks down is owning a place in Manhattan, where more than any place in the country, real estate is an investment. Even when NYC property prices are inflated, Manhattan prices typically don't burst like the rest of the city. They ... "hiss"... "SSSSSSsssssssssssssss........."
He's right about renting. But owning in Manhattan can be a great idea to get a nice return on your money.

I am over 40... have worked in Manhattan for almost 20 years, but would never move to the city. It is crowded and noisy... stressful. After 40 we don't need that much stress... I would prefer a house on Long Island or move to New Jersey.

I get to meet a few people every day and most of them live in the City. Their lives are trapped in a tight schedule that makes them rush through almost everything in this fast paced city. Slow dancing is a luxury...
