You don't realize how much you miss him, until you read and remember some of the stuff he said and stood for:
"Here's my strategy on the Cold War: We win, they lose."
- Ronald Reagan
"The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help."
- Ronald Reagan
"The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant: It's just that they know so much that isn't so." - Ronald Reagan
"Of the four wars in my lifetime none came about because the U.S. was too strong." - Ronald Reagan
"I have wondered at times about what the Ten Commandment's would have looked like if Moses had run them through the U.S. Congress."- Ronald Reagan
"The taxpayer: That's someone who works for the federal government but doesn't have to take the civil service examination." - Ronald Reagan
"Government is like a baby: An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other." - Ronald Reagan
"The nearest thing to eternal life we will ever see on this earth is a government program." - Ronald Reagan
"I've laid down the law, though, to everyone from now on about anything that happens: no matter what time it is, wake me, even if it's in the middle of a Cabinet meeting" - Ronald Reagan
"It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first." - Ronald Reagan
"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it" - Ronald Reagan
"Politics is not a bad profession. If you succeed there are many rewards, if you disgrace yourself you can always write a book." - Ronald Reagan
"No arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. - Ronald Reagan
"If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under." - Ronald Reagan

Ronald Reagan was the last truly great leader to occupy the White House. I am amazed at how many of his former detractors have already come around to appreciating him. Usually that takes many more decades. It's a powerful testament to his outstanding character and leadership qualities.

I remember liking Reagan at the time,(I was in my teens) I still think Reagan was a Great Orator... and if his son ran for president, I might be convinced to vote for him...
two things make a great president... His Length of time out of office, and his death... (as is the way with most Legends)
I thought about making a short list of things he did that I don't agree with, like is stance on homelessness... but why do that, if that's something that interests you, you can look it up...
even dead, Reagan would make a better president than what we have now...

even dead, Reagan would make a better president than what we have now Got a huge laugh out of this one!
I used to say that I would take Reagan -- even with the Alzheimers -- over any of the candidates from either party who have run, or held the office, since he was president.

I agree. Reagan was a horrible President. The things that are happening in America today is because of him.

What's worse?
A draft dodging womanizer who smoke pot?
Or a deserter cocaine snorting Jesus freak who thinks that the life blood of young Americans is an expendable commodity?
Things that are happening today are because "Slick Willy" was a pansy ass draft dodger and GAVE away the USA You think so? When you say "things" do you mean the meltdown of the subprime mortgage based securities? Or do you think the staggering debt is because of Clinton?
How about invading a country because of weapons of mass destruction?
Oh wait, there were none.
Ummm.... let me try again.
How about invading a country that was harboring terrorists?
Oh wait, there are more terrorists there than ever before and now their f***ing pissed at us more than they ever were.
Ummm... let me try again.
How about invading a country that was under the yoke of a brutal tyrant who raped and pillaged his own country, subjecting them to torture and all kinds of inhumane torture.
Oh wait. Reagan built up his regime.
Wait. Why exactly did we invade Iraq?

Gosh, koyaa, if you might like to take a gander at the politics thread. There's some guy who's convinced credit has nothing to do with the economy. Not kidding.
