Last night we went to a really cool restaurant. From the front it looks very small but extends to a open backyard area. The place is called Surf Bar 139 N6st. The cross avenue is Bedford Ave. When you walk into the place the first thing you notice is that the floor is all sand. We started laughing because it was fun. The whole place is full of sand. We saw a lot of people wearing, uhm, sandals. I guess they've eaten there before. The back yard area is in two parts. One area is on a wooden deck, the other is all beach sand both under a huge tree. The service is fine but I got the idea that the waiters and waitresses should have been dressed up as lifeguards just to play up the theme. Well, maybe when I open my restaurant I can do what I want. Anyway she ordered the Seafood Paella and I order the Lobster Roll. Well, I was a bit disappointed with their Best NY Lobster Roll for $15. It was on a hotdog bun served with chips and that was it!!! I've had real Lobster Rolls in Lido Beach, LI at Jordan's Lobster so I know how it should be. The Paella was a decent size portion and being still hungry I started eating some of her food. Later I ordered the Crispy Conch Fritters to fill the big empty space in my stomach. That hit the spot. We ordered Mohitos too but the glasses were too small so we ordered a second round. When we were done the bill came out to $77 (minus tip) for the both of us. Not too bad but just avoid the skimpy Lobster Roll if you go. It took me 3 bites to eat the damned thing. Maybe I just got a big mouth.
Here's the menu: http://nymag.com/listings/restaurant/surf-bar/menus/dinner.html
Williamsburg is a real happening place. It extends along Bedford ave from about S4st to N10 st. Lots of bars, cool hangouts, plenty of restaurants. Its really the best place to hangout on a Saturday night. Its like the they transplanted Soho and The Village to Brooklyn. I think its better in fact and parking is not very difficult yet. I think Manhattan people are coming over to Brooklyn to hang out. Hows that for a switch? Those Bridge and Tunnel people, Ha Ha! The tables have turned.
Also, there are a lot of luxury condos being built and they're not cheap so hurry up and buy something before it gets too expensive. Steiner Studios is nearby too. Its a huge complex where there are movie sets and cable shows being filmed. Sometimes they have screenings by invitation so go if you get invited.

Brooklyn has by far the best restaurants in all of NY. You can visit a different place every day of the year and never eat at the same place twice. Never a need to eat in Manhattan and put up with crowded restaurants, high prices and finding a parking spot or worst yet paying $50 just to park your car in a lot that scratches it all up anyway. Thankfully I walked at the park the entire day or I'd be 5 pounds heavier from all the indulging I did this weekend and I'm still full

$50 to park a car?? Gawd, I love the malls around here, and on-street parking is fine & FREE also.. I rather like finding a nice restaurant and eating there MOST of the time so I don't have to go get my stomach pumped out from eating bad food that has been kept too long and spoiled, Roadkill Cafe' is for real here too, Hit it on the road, bring it in and cook it, cheaper by the dozen. Love snackin on them Beavers.. They do taste like Chicken too... ,

OKAY, I'm exaggerating, I'm adding in the tolls & gas I pay to go over the bridges and tunnels to get their. But seriously in Manhattan sometimes you can look for a spot for an hour. I have a new car and I don't want it all banged up so it's better to just keep looking for a spot then put it in a lot. The parking all depends on what area your in and what day it is, if you want to go anywhere to an event that's happening they will charge up to $40 for your car for the night.
Hmmmmm, I haven't tried any roadkill yet, maybe that would be a good idea for a new restaurant, you should start one up and tell advertise that it's the newest, healthiest trend, everyone in NY will stop eating sushi and eat some protein packed BEAVER

I think its rubbed first sometimes with spices. Other methods are hammering it with a mallet to tenderize the meat.

And how is the Beaver prepared? You skin it and gut it 1st, then boil it to get the gamey taste outta it, boiling also get all the swamp water taste out of it in case she/he drank a lot before they passed on.. Then after par boiling it, you cut it up into small slices and fry/bake it. Season it with Garlic and other spices and serve it with Horseradish sauce and/or Ketchup.. Some people prefer to eat it raw and I do also on some other types of Beavers...

I'll telling you now. I'll never eat a beaver that tastes like swamp water or even smells like swamp water. And forget if there are flies all over the damned thing. No way.

Flies are just an added treat with the meat, kinda like sauce!! Lotta times they don't get all the fur off either and it gets stuck in your teeth, hahahaha.
