Posts: 6,354 Although many independent bookstores are losing ground to the chains, the Strand remains strong. Yesterday, it celebrated its 80th birthday.

For those outside NYC, the Strand is 11 miles of books, a place you can lose yourself for hours -- actually it could be days, but they do make you leave.

Spent gobs and had a box of books shipped to my house.

Posts: 716 .........I love Books............I have tons......I got rid of alot too.....MY grandma used to have 2 bookshelves full. I used to go to her house after school and just peruse the titles.......She had a lot of readers digest 3 in one books.
