Santo, come on now...if we honestly worried about eating from vendors who don't wash there hands we would starve to death, LOL. Don't you eat at all the street feasts?

i used to.... no more street fairs for me
i entered a Dunkin Donuts saturday on 9th ave and here was this fella about to grab a donut with paper--no gloves---before that, he rubbbed his left eye! i walked out w/o saying a word
well, there's pinkeye right there. he touches $$ too.
we do have a 9th ave street fair in NYC held every year and this year may 17 and 18 from 37th st to 57th sts
i just walk and see now. no more foods

Santo, I have this theory...bear with me now and don't think that I'm not a clean person....but.....I have never had the flu, I never get a cold, nor do I ever get sick. I don't use that sanitizer stuff that everyone walks around with in their pockets rubbing on themselves all day. I'll eat almost anything funky from almost any foreign country, yep including NY street vendors, LOL My kids don't get sick as much as other kids, but when they do have a cold or strep I will drink out of their cup or share food and I never, ever catch it. I believe that I have built my immunity up against so much that it's impossible to penetrate the barrier
I know my untimely death will not be from a disease but rather getting hit by a train

NEVER, EVER, EVER DO I GET SICK....BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTT, I've had a million surgeries, LOL, won't get into it, but I guess thats the drawback......great health in some ways, fell apart in others, all fixed up now no never had a flu shot nor a vaccination, only the vaccinations when I was an infant that you needed by law to enter school.

Like you, Cyn, I'm rarely sick. There is something to be said for exposing your immune system. It also helps with allergies. When your immune system has something to fight, the body rarely turns on itself.
A couple of months ago on "60 Minutes", Anderson Cooper did a story on a peanut-based food used to treat extreme malnutrition. When asked if the fact that this material was made out of peanuts caused any food allergies, the answer was no. Allergies are non-existant in the developing world where the body must defend itself against pathogens.

only the vaccinations when I was an infant that you needed by law to enter school. ..................Not to sound like a know it all, but there IS NO LAW for vaccinations.............trust me my youngest and my youngest gr.son are not vaccinated. Look it up. They try to make you think their is but there is NOT.
As for never getting sick? By exposing yourself you are doing the right thing. There are chicken pox parties when kids get them in an attempt to expose the other ones naturally to the varicella.
Santo the only to way to stay healthy is to exercise your immune system. You do this by being exposed to the offending virus. Flu vaccines break down your system.

I had the pox when I was a kid, I don't remember the vaccine for it back then, now all the kids get it. When my girls register for school and summer camp every year they say that I MUST have vaccinations up to date, so I get it for them, I just as an adult do not get them for myself.

One of the reason behind not getting the POX VACCINE is that you need to keep up on it all the way thru adult hood.....every 10 yrs.......Most ppl will not and that will leave them vulnerable to POX as an adult which is more dangerous...As a Childhood illness it is NOT dangerous...........
