I saw Journey to the Center of The Earth last evening. Let me start off by saying its not a good idea to get the $17.25 refillable bucket of popcorn and icee's I ran to the lil girls room several times, I just had to refill that icee.
Getting back to my review, let me say that Brenden Fraiser is a wonder comedic physical comedy actor, even when he is given a lame script. Now this movie will certainly not win any awards BUT I do highly recommend it as a good, wholesome family adventure in 3D.
From the very beginning of the movie I looked at my sister and said,"Yeah Right". Way too many scenes were just too unbelivable and over the top, then again, this is not the sort of movie you should enter into expecting anything too realistic.
I will say Ebert, I mean Santo that I give it a for family entertainment.

I don't want to see Kung Fu Panda at all, however, I enjoyed WALL-E so much , I might go back again. I need to take another family member that did not see it.

Because I'm particular about what theater I go to for movies and Panda is no longer playing at the one I like.
The ones I go to have a lot of outdoor parking and close to home. I like the older theaters, same people have worked there forever and its more geared toward service...the bigger multiplex theaters get too crowded and you get a more "rowdier" crowd. I know the seats are more roomy and swing, but hey my ass is not that big, I don't need a big seat and I don't need to buy a lousy hotdog at a theater, the gigantic bucket- o- 10 pounds of popcorn is fine enough.

melissa leo--i hope the Academy gives her an Oscar nod for Best Actress next Feb. she is damn sensational in the most intense indie thriller i have seen this year! leo plays a struggling single mom Ray who is forced by a Mohawk named lila (terrific performance by misty upham) also a single mom to smuggle illegal immigrants over the frozen river between a canadian town and upstate NY. they do this in order to raise cash for the moms' kids, Lila has a baby and Ray has 2 w/ hubby nowhere in sight (ray serves popcorn and tang as meals to the kids). beautifully filmed in snowy upstate NY, has that FARGO feel. there is one scene in the film involving a smuggled Pakistan family and their baby that gave me chills. i''ll leave it at that. and the ending left me a bit teary. i have watched leo in the great tv show HOMICIDE LIFE ON THE STREET and in indies like 21 GRAMS. she is superb here and her face shows a lotta wear and tear and sadness. her 1st scene, wow! FROZEN RIVER is her greatest acheivement! top 10 best film ! you should see it. there are threatening moments but no strong violence. only playing in 2 theaters in NYC.

I'm at work FREEZING!!!! This guy is always blasting the air. We argue all day about the air. It's thundering and pouring here.
I actually like days like this when I HAVE to be at work, so it does not bother me. If its still like this after work, I'm going to go home, pop some popcorn and watch some movies with the kids, we call it "Movie Night" I don't know but they think its really special when we pop popcorn and watch movies together on the couch
oh getting to where you spoke about burnt popcorn...get this? I go to clearview cinemas and not only do they have the best popped corn (yes they pop in themselves, not brought in) they have a dispenser where u put your own buttery goo on and they have flavored toppings
