Hi everyone! I recently moved to the Kerr Lake (Buggs Island) area and am looking to meet some people to become friends with. It seems that there is nothing here as far as things to do where a single girl new to the area can meet anyone, so I'm left to the internet for time being. I'm not necessarily looking for someone to start dating immediately, but looking for friends and if the course of nature takes us to dating, then great, if it doesn't we both come out of it with a new friend.

Also, anyone that lives around here that knows of places to go (bars, etc) to meet people within like 30 to 40 miles of Boydton, VA , I would love to hear your suggestions too.

Hopefully this site will help me, the others havent been very helpful :(

Hi Angel,
Sorry, while you are not quite at the end of the world, you can see it from there.
And with the price of gas steadily rocketing upwards, you are stuck there. Go ahead
and pick out a nice grave site, it's the only thing left for you now.
Geez, and only 24.

Well, from your post it seems that you have taken the only advice I could give to start with. Get in your car and drive to Charlotte, Raleigh, Richmond, Myrtle Beach, Wilmington.....

I grew up in the area (Roanoke Rapids), but escaped to Charlotte many years ago. I like the lakes though, so at least you have that. Then again, Lake Norman is nice here. Good luck to ya. At least you are interesting. Some how, I doubt that you will lack for companionship.

The lake is great, have seen lots of cute guys so far....all of them with girls and I'm not one for taking another girls guy, lol. Every day that the weather has been really nice I've been on the lake, but I need something to do at night within a decent distance of here. I can go to Durham and Raleigh no problem, but I don't like the fact that if I go down there and party a bit with some friends I end up having to crash there because I don't want to drive back up here after partying. It'd just be nice if there was a decent bar or something around here that I could come back home after visiting.

Hey Angel...I myself live WAY out in the sticks...30 min. to get to a store.... But I love it here...It's so nice to have this great escape from the rush of the rat race...So take a different look at where you live...Cause it does have it's benefits...

I definitely hear ya, and I sympathize with ya. My best advice is to try and get as far away from there, and to a MAJOR city sooooooooon.

UNfortunately, I feel your pain...cuz I have been stuck here, and I am at about 45 min. away from you (takes me about an hour to get to South Hill when I am heading to Busch Gardens)just outside of Danville Virginia and I can tell you that there is VERY little to do here. Besides...they like to roll the sidewalks up at 7pm here - I have seen the street crews doing it with my own eyes. . So I havent, but it surely feels that way when I grew up in North Texas with Dallas Fort Worth only being a little more than an hour away...it is a far, far, far cry from having something to do.

I wish I knew of some sound advice, but short of getting away from town...I dont know what to tell you. But if you ever wanna do Busch Gardens or Kings Dominion and you just need someone to go with so you dont go alone....I go regularly, and more often than not...well, let's just say that while I wont let my friends actions dictate what I will or will not do, I would rather have someone to enjoy the day with.

I would rather live near Kerr Lake than where I am now.. Peace and quiet can be a good thing.. it would be wonderful to be able to sit outside and not hear boom boxes, cars that need mufflers.. If I could, I would buy me a little campsite there and just never leave

How far are you from Blacksburg and VA Tech..or is that too far? I'm not sure where you are exactly....I'm the mountains, there is tons to do here only I live in a dry county which means no alcohol sold anywhere but that doesn't bother me since i gave up booze a long time ago....Anyhow that's a college town so I'm sure you can find clubs and people your age..
