Well Budo, I guess the other 9,000,000 people who happily reside here will miss you. Of course the 9,000,000 include almost 2,000,000 who have relocated here from 45 other states and 13 foreign countries - voluntarily, and another 1,000,000 from 29 states who have chosen to retire here. I guess we just didn't have enough of whatever you needed to float your boat here. Good luck in your new home state. Need some stats on it before you go? Odds are 3 - 1 the overall taxes will be higher and 2 - 1 the waters will be more poluted. I don't have any stats on those camos you mentioned since I don't have a clue of what you reference. Again, Good luck!

you lose Florida has no state tax and taxes are lower in general. Coastal conservation in fl leads the nation and does not allow barbaric practices as gill netting which rapes estuaries a common practice in NC.i applaud you for defending your state it is commendable but it does not change the facts that north carolinians are over taxed and that your state government co tows to a strong commercial fishing lobby which is depleting your fisheries at will.

Budo, I'm not defending 'my' state. I'm a transplant - from Florida! I still have family there - in Tampa, Miami, Lakeland, Gainesville and Jacksonville. The tax situation there is terrible! My son, who is in Jax, pays more overall taxes than I do! The exhorbitant sales tax robs the even the poorest. Property taxes are out of sight! Bringing a car into the state is very costly. And the cost of water ! Water!!!
I could go on and on. All in all, the state of Florida collects more taxes per person than 29 other states, including NC.
I assure you I will never defend gill netting! I agree with you on that. It is barbaric. But, let's be honest about poluted waters. Florida's inland waters are among the most poluted in the world. Jeb Bush did a great job of turning that around - with about 60 billion dollars of federal assistance. You certainly understand how terrible the situation is in the 'glades! Environmentalists are estimating it will take 50 to 100 years to turn that situation around.
I think another 'poster' summed up the problem when she indicated that you hated it here before you got here. Nothing can change a closed mind.
Again - good luck!

sorry guy all info on line points to Florida being better then NC in overall taxation.fl fisheries rank #1 in the country you can look that up also.In my earlier post i did not speak of pollution (we do have a problem which was identified and corrected) unlike the millions of gallons of raw sewage which were dump in that creek near willmington which has been completely ignored.before you say someone has a closed mind you should know a little about their history of how they have been treated since arriving to this state,Daisy nows the circumstances you do not BTW i did not post to argue with anyone it was just my opinion (which i am allowed to have) not everyone thinks this state is great and if you do thats all good

Check this link for 2005 Tax rankings. In total Taxes, Florida at #3, NC at #10.

http://www.census.gov/govs/statetax/05staxrank.html

Notice that is the US Gov census. Not some off the wall guesses.

And yet another ranking by MSN Money, Florida at #21, NC at # 27. All taxes are included in this one.

http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Taxes/Advice/TheBestAndWorstStatesForTaxes.aspx?page=2

Wonder where your figures come from??

Far as pollution in waters, every state has problems. NONE are totally FIXED and never will be. And water conservation? Same deal, people are people, till we ALL learn water is a precious commodity, we will never have enough.

But good luck going back. We all have a place we like to call home. No matter what.

NC is the best state of all in my opinion. i lived in TN for 19 years and it is beautiful and am going back for my girl. if i had my way we would live here. it's got everything. beaches on the east and mountains in the west. and i have a fondness for NC. i was born here and all my family live here.

I love NC, I haven't seen a gangbanger or thug or hooker since I've been hear. I can sit on my deck in the morning and listen to the stream and the birds and drink my coffee in peace and quiet. My property taxes are less, my stress level is less and most Californians would pay big money to get water I get out my my tap. Spring water out of a mountainside beats filtered pond water any day...
