has anybody had a colonoscopy. i had my first one today. if you do, try to get the doctor to give you something else beside a GALLON of stuff to drink. man it was rough. every thing went well and he found one small polyp that he said was not cancerous. i've been concerned about this for a while and now i can relax.

Yes Vance I have had several. The last one I did not have to drink the gallon. Just a pill and 3 8 ounces of water. Guess it is according who your doctor is. Glad everything was alright.

Ah the dreaded colonoscopy. Just reading the word send shivers down my spine. The proceedure its self is not so bad. You are deeply sedated and in a flash its over. The prep on the other hand is cruel and unusual punishment. One doc had me drink that horrible gallon of vile liquid, another doc had mercy on me and all I had to drink was a small amount of phospho soda mixed with juice. Still not tasty but not as awful and you get the same results. Lots of visits to the bathroom.

The next time you need to have a colonoscopy, ask your doc, if you can do a flexible sigmoidoscopy. It is both quicker and much less invasive. Neither is pleasant though.
