Who here is as happy I am that Gov.Easley will be leaving office soon? And with the presidential election, I have not heard much about the candidates for governor. Any thoughts? I am more concern with NC economy but anything would be very interesting.

In my original topic, I meant to add "coming election"
Any way, I read the website of each candidate. As soon as I saw Perdue helped get all those raises and bonoses for teachers, she lost any chance of my vote.
I was not impressed with Munger, but when I read he said criminals are punished for being poor, well, He had no chance then for my vote.
I really liked what McCrory had to say about energy, illegal immigration. and dealing with gangs.
McCrory has my vote.

You are against teachers getting raises?.. They are among the lowest paid teachers in the nation..

I am not against teachers getting raises. But I dont understand, teachers and I work for the same company, the state of NC. The budget always could afford to give teachers a 15% raise yearly,plus bonuses, but all other state employees got only a 2 to 5% raise when/if we got one. Once we went 5 years without a raise.Teachers every year.The cost of living has gone up for all state employees. Why cant all get a 5% raise? When saw on Perdue's website that she pushed for teacher raises,(same as Easly;s wife, she had been a teacher) I knew then she would not be interested in all her employees. Yes, I have hard feelings. I became a state employee 10 years ago. The cost of living has at the least doubled, but I think closer to tripled. My income has only gone up about 25%.

I don't work for the state.
If you work for any of the VA hospitals in North Carolina, then you are paid by the state.

Not VA, state mental hospital. Same a D. Dix. hospital.
Now I am against Mongo for Gov, because on his website,he says he apposes the death penalty because people dont receive it for criminal behavior but for being poor. Now, having the death penalty or not having it is not an issue with me, but it sounds as if he is one of those people who make excuses for criminal behavior, McCrory seems to want to make people, including gangs, take responsibility for their crimes.And he wants to stop giving welfare to illegal immigrants.
