I don't think it's imtimidating, I see it as bewilderment because for a couple of reasons.
First, I don't use or need them to excite myself with her in bed nor do I know how to use them.
Secondly, I need to ask why the other person wants or needs to use them.

In my experience, some men get offended by my use of toys during sex. It's because they think that they're not getting the job done. Some think that they should be enough to fullfill me, and some have been, but a little vibration goes along way!! Yeah, many men are offended and insulted by a partner that wants to use toys... but the way I see it is if a toy can enhance, increase, accentuate pleasure, then hell yes, use toys. I used to have many toys, and never once was I made to feel inadequate because of the use of any of them - toys can be many things: BD stuff, ties, scarves, blindfolds, dildos, vibes, oils, finger-vibes, paddles... anything really, and I always found that they add extra dimensions to sex. Of course I don't want to use them every time, but sometimes is always good!

If the toy is the neighbor 'boy-toy', and he's bigger, and he's...well...BIGGER.... well..that can be intimidating.
Especially when he makes me sit beside the bed and watch him do her...yeah...that's intimidating..
Or if its the local college football team...that really intimidates me.
God I wish she would quit doing that!
