Posts: 4,105 Once a month, twice a year, yearly? Maybe never? We are not talking about you're yearly pap unless you specifically request to be tested. Most if not all Gyno's won't automatically test.

Life Insurance requirement although depending on the number of partners you have it's your responsibility to get tested more ofter. your own time frame.

Posts: 162 How do you get paperwork to put in your wallet? My ob/gyn just has me call and they tell me everything is fine. I get tested when I get my yearly physical. After the next one though I probably won't bother since I'm not getting any action nor do I expect any.

Posts: 1,309 I am screened for HIV, ghonorrhea, syphillis, and clamydia at my yearly visit to the gyno at my request. If a relationship ends where we were exclusive (or supposed to be) and stopped using a condom, I go again. Call me paranoid, but sometimes any of the aforementioned conditions can remain symptom free until the damage is done. I like to be sure. Also, I give blood on a regular basis and they screen that for HIV as well and notify the donor if they detect a problem.

As far as paperwork, I always ask for it so that I can keep it in my file. Sad that we have to swap the paperwork before going that next step in a relationship but hey, only get one life and one body to live it.

If everyone would simply take the time to test every few months, once a year for those that are "monogamous" the "Nasties" would be reduced considerably.

IMO playing responsibly is everyone's responsibility if in fact they are going to "indulge" in a fun hedonistic way. Card Carrying Certifiably Safe....CCCS.

Posts: 88 Hope everyone here knows that when you get AIDS, Ghonnerea,and syphillis testing and pap test that they don't check for Genital herpes, so add that to your list of blood tests as that is the only way to tell for sure...50% of people who have Herpes don't realize they have it and pass it on to others...

I didn't look it up as I usually do but in doing some research a few years ago, the information that I found was that you had to actually have an outbreak for them to test you for herpes... which is kinda goofy 'cause I'd think if you had an oubreak you'd have your answer. What I found said that they had to swab from the actual sore. Is that not true? Tell me more... 'cause if there's a test out there, I'll definitely add it to my list!

Posts: 9,550 Thats exactly what I was told when asking them to test for EVERYTHING. They cant check for the herps, unless it looks like you have the herps!!! haha Sounds kinda backwards to me also, I guess the moral of the story is......If you get the herps, you will know it!!!!!!

Posts: 64 I just ask the Doc to fax it to me..... then I have a hard copy of it at all times. When I used to swing regularly, it came in handy to give to other women or couples, etc. You'll finde that type of thiong a lot in that lifestyle. People who swing and never get tested are STUPID.

That 5-day wait sucks though doesn't it? You start thinking aboout all the nasty, toothless one-nighters you've had over the past 6 months.... sh*t is kinda scary---LOL

At least it is for me anyway.... but then again.. I'm a pig.--LOL

Yes... They can't test for Herpes... but much like warts.. you'll know if you have them.

They can test for Gonnorhea and Syphillis..... but that involves the old Q-tip up the pee-hole trick..

OWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!

I opt NOT to take that one.. and the doc says if I caught one of them..... I'd know it as well.

All my partners were people I was either very good friends with (so I'd known about their sexual history) or women I had a relationship with. In either case, I always use protection, no matter what the scenario may entail.

Posts: 88 I had an outbreak and got tested with skin sample (swab) and it came back negative, so had blood test and found out sadly enough that I tested positive...you can go to Center for Disease Control website and find out more about it, but blood test is only way to be certain...so, be careful, very careful...it is actually more harm stressfully than physically...

Posts: 7,904 I got tested about a year ago. I'm not really in a high risk category but injuries at work often lead to lots of bleeding so for the sake of everyone else we get tested every so often.
