Sounds to me your basically asking about married men that have jobs that keep them away from home alot. Though I don;t know much about guys in the oilfields I do know that alot of guys while they are away, well, they like to play...
I say alot but that doesn't mean that they all do. If your man is away alot of the time its a possibilty. In the military, especially in my job lots of the people are away from home on TDY's which stands for temporary duty(weeks to months) and deployment (months to a year) and its not uncommon for couples to be unfaithful. As ive heard before "what goes TDY stays TDY"....alot of people in the military especially guys/girls follow that rule and if they are away from home will mess with other girls/guys, ect and come home like nothing ever happened.
If you are in this situation you have to have alot of trust and willpower...your partner may or may not being doing this...if you have trust and have a strong relationship with your partner built up you shouldnt have a problem and it helps to have alot of communication while your partner is away to prevent it (don't call them continously ever moment they are away to make sure they are not cheating but call often to keep the relationship going and touch base).
Also its not just the women/men that are away that have this problem, alot of times it can be the people left behind as well...(Keep in mind though that not every person in a job that takes them far from home is going to cheat or have a fling...ive met some very loyal people, however like i said before, alot of it depends on the relationship the couple had to begin with)
