What is the difference between sex and making love? Do you believe there is a difference? Can you have sex with your significant other, or does sex with your significant other constitute making love?
I have heard people use the term "making love" when speaking of someone they will admit that they do not love, just....like.
Do you think any of this matters?

Uncertain nomanclature brings out much conjecture. Both expressions are highly personal, meaning we draw upon our own experiences when we attempt to interpret. Completely subjective in their use.

Sex is an intimate act that is shared with a partner....Making love, is sex with your feelings, heart, soul, and love involved....sure there are alot more adjectives to describe it, but those will do for now.

think of it in a layman's way. say a man says this to a woman
let's go have sex or let' s go make love
I think the woman is likely to give a positive answer to the latter lol. My point here is one is more polite than the other lol
women generally love decent polite men. right, gals?

I place far more emphasis on it than this.
For me, I can only make love to the one I'm in love with. Like Beach sad:
Making love, is sex with your feelings, heart, soul, and love involved Sex can be had with any random person off the street, and can possibly be devoid of any emotion.
Sex can also be with the one you love, when you are committing the act out of sheer lust.
Thats how I see it.

Well, you can share a night of passion, and you can have a early morning quicky, or a nooner. One is definitely more loving, passionate, soulful, than the other two. So you can have both with one you love. Most tend to call it all making love, just so they don't appear to cheapen it.
Than again do ya wanna f*ck ? Can be rude, or a mater of fact. Just depends on who and how your mate feels about it.
Dirty talk can be rude or sexy. It just depends. Yo each their own.

It's a matter of mood. Sometimes you want a tender moment, sometimes you just want hot wild sex. You can have either with anyone. It's just that casual sex can't be completely satisfying. You have to have an emotional connection in order to experience all physical love can be.

Ok, here's the skinny. ready?
Having sex is an act. An activity for which two or more people consent to engage for a pleasure. An end result is usually the culprit. The physicalities not to omit the orgasm.
Making love is more about expression and enforcement. To make love to another is a way of expressing your emotion and feeling for that person in an attempt to share a part of yourself with them. It is also a way of enforcing the love that you harbor emotionally and mentally for any another. A form of communication for which all inhibitions disapear, and commitment, and passions are expressed leaving you totally yeilding. A language that is shared as you become one. The act of giving of yourself for another is the ultimate form of love. When you make love, you dont give sex. You give of yourself for another in an expression of the magnitude of feeling and commitment to them. I dont expect some to even understand this, but this is one of those situation where " You had to be there".

To me it does matter. I'm an adult and have done both but for sure making love goes further in my way of thinking. I must say Silvertongue explained it best.
