Applies to male or female. What if you really like a person and have sex with them , but aren't wanting a relationship, does that make you a slut? What if you have 5 relationships/sex a year, every year, does
that make you a slut?  Not my place to say IMO

Well, the old saying was..... a slut is a woman that sleeps with everyone except me. Now whether or not people still see it that way is the next question.

When i was Growing up a slut was equivalent to a whore...Someone who sleeps around, many, many, many, many partners, kinda skanky, sleezy, greezy,and nasty. An Unpaid prostitute.
Altho by todays definitions, with the world changing and nothing being the same anymore who the hell knows!

And thank you, Swilent...I've always hated that term "sleeping around" or "sleeping with someone"....I mean, how much trouble can you get into if you're SLEEPING, for cryin' out loud??!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Question for the guys
What would your daughter (if you have one) have to do in order for you, as her father, to call her or think of her as "a slut ?"
And would this same behavior apply to your thinking if it were your son?
Perhaps "sluttiness" is a state of mind or a matter of judgement, particularly when it is applied to a female who has multiple sexual encounters.
A guy, or your son, is just sowing his wild oats, no?

I'm sorry, but I couldn't disagree with you more. "Sluttiness" vs. "sowing his wild oats" - I don't see a difference there. If it were my son OR my daughter, I would not condone it in either. Unfortunately, the word "slut" usually is taken to apply to the female gender; I wish it would be more universally applied to EITHER gender. In my book, if it was my son engaging in such behavior, I would find it no more acceptable than if it was my daughter doing the same thing. "He's just doing what guys do" just doesn't cut it with me, and I would frown upon the behavior regardless of what name was being used to describe it.

I think you hit the nail on the head.... Or to add fuel to the fire.....what about all these guys on here, jumping from one flower pot to the next??????? Sampling all the pollen and necture........hummmmmm You know it does take TWO TO DO THE DIRTY DEED...... 
Unless both the male and female are virgins......can either throw the first stone....????????
I'm not talking about myself doing the deed......but of say 15 guys, I've met in person, from these dating sites.....wasn't a one of them not looking to get laid.......didnt happen....but what does that say about the guys........BTW....for the most part....when the answer was no.......you should have seen the little boy temper tantrums.......not a pretty site.... 
I'd also go as far to say....of every 10 contacts I've had.....9 deffinetly have sex on their mind as the first priority..... 
A male friend of mine, told me, his 30 sumpin son, got more free sex off the internet dating sites, than he ever got in a bar...and lets face it......thats what a lot of the guys are looking for.....fun and games... 
I'm deffinetly not fridgid......but I am looking for a man who knows how to treat a women with respect.....and is looking for a serious one on one relationship......  And thats not built in the sack.......

i have a friend who thinks anyone who goes for / wants sex but are not married is one ( if that is the standard - then i would be one ) cause i so am not into marriage but being a' nun' has no apeal to me .
