Thunder Snow

We are approaching the end of March. Last week it was in the mid 80's and people broke out their t-shirts and shorts and were still sweating! Now it is freezing cold and snowing so hard it is snowing SIDEWAYS! Guess that is one way to get enough moisture to lift the fire bans. Some people in our neck of the woods are getting thunder and lightening with all of this snow, truly a site to see!

Gosh! that was less than a 12 hour interval! Yep, its OKLAHOMA!
It is finally beginning to stick a little here. It has snowed all day, but the ground was so warm it wouldn't stick. Still snowing sideways. A customer came in awhile ago and said it was really "white" in Tulsa, it is sticking there pretty good. Sounds like it has been extra heavy there. I'm figuring my son over in Stillwater is probably covered pretty good. Just a little more snow here and I am going to make some Snow Ice Cream. Got my bowl ready!

You really missed it, Bill. It was snowing so hard, blowing at least 4 directions, that you couldn't see more than a few feet. Yet none of it stuck! The grass finally 'frosted' a little and my daffodils had white hats, but it was all gone within minutes after it finally stopped. A big glob of snow collected on the traffic sign out in the median in front of my shop, heaped up until it couldn't stay on the sign any more, fell to the ground with a big PLOP then almost instantly melted. Couldn't get out there with my bowl fast enough .

Looks like we here in OK are getting a potpourri of our weather all in a week's time. Fire ban out my way is finally lifted, but today the wind is so strong it blew my electric out! After over 2 hours I gave up on doing laundry and came on in to town. But even that presented a challenge. I had to keep pulling over and dodging high speed pickups with flashing hazard lights. . . . . . .volunteer firemen heading for the fire department and suiting up. On down a little further was a large acreage blazing and growing quickly. Looked like more than just grass was on fire. I know the fire ban has been lifted and many people got to burn trash/storm debris over the weekend, but anyone should be able to figure out that you don't start a burn in HIGH WIND!!!!!

I was at work during all the noise. Our electrical system did not like the goings on at all. I worked my keester off. We needed the rain but the rest could have gone around us for all I care.

I got some great pics just before it all opened up on me. May have even gotten the funnel that was trying to drop. (Several people saw it, but sirens never went off) I am hoping they all download into my computer okay. Will post soon if they do.

Did any of you see the lightening last night(saturday)? Man it looked like giant fireworks! It was all around, except to the due north.

Darn, I missed most of it! I saw a little, then storm pressure got to me (migraines from storm pressure sometimes) and I had to lay down. Next thing I knew it was 6am. But I heard the ominous rumbles now and then. Stormed half the day today out at my house, today, too. That thunder rumbling through our little mountain range out there sure is neat sounding.

Most of my storm pics from Friday are downloaded into my computer. They came out great! I got a good shot of the funnel dropping down, long tail and all. Yet our warning sirens never went off.

Okay, first it was too cold to get out and burn all of our Ice Storm limbs, then it rained forever and nothing would light, but when it stopped, did everyone really have to get out and burn them all at the same time?! Geez! It is creating a TERRIBLE heat wave.

Come on guys, please, lets put the fires out and get this temp back down to below 100.

Geez! It's so hot you can SEE the heat! I had to run an errand this afternoon and it was so thick you could hardly see through it to see off in the distance. It was that wavy looking heat like you see in the movies. I kept expecting to hear that music like you do in the desert western movies - doo doo do doooo. My rose bushes are frying. No matter how much water I put on them, they are turning crispy brown (in the downtown concrete). I put a tall snowman holding a "Let It Snow" sign in my front window, but he doesn't seem to be working.

We have had soooo much rain this Fall..... and it doesn't look like the pattern is going to stop for a looooong time.......it is raining and thundering right now..... but the temps are beginning to drop..... can't help but wonder if this all means we are going to have one heck of a white winter. I hope not, but then it would be better than a bunch of ice .
