Hi there guys!
Ohhh, you got your good days and your not-so-good days, ya know?
I had probably just checked on my 401k or sumpthin'.. It gives a whole new meaning to the term "tanked"
Whew! A lotta years to vanish into a proverbial puff of vapor, thanks to a bunch of greedy bankers and a Fed that knows no boundaries.
Or, maybe I was merely dealing with a broken heart.. Those'll getcha too some days.
But then, as someone once said, "Tomorrow's another day".

WebMonster you should really take Edelweiss's advice. Her words are words to live by. Cheer up things will get better sooner or later, hopefully sooner. Don't worry or obsess about things, it'll all work out.

Yeah, we all have those days.
I haven't checked my 401k in months and months. I am afraid there is nothing left so I just rather not know.

Yes that IS very good advice!
Especially the 'hold onto your heart' part..
Actually things weren't all that bad.. And it wasn't meant to be a downer thread. I was just musing a bit and thought we needed something else to talk about. So I opened up a free-form thread where anybody could talk about anything they might want to, without necessarily having to stick to a specific topic.
I am a bit dismayed about the state of the country at this juncture though, (certainly including my dismal 401k). I think we are forging ahead and making a lot of mistakes along the way. Mistakes that we may not be able to recover from. The AIG debacle is a good example of that.
But at the same time that there are a lot of daunting mountains looming around we have to climb, we are making other molehills into mountains as well. I think it's pretty silly to get all upset about Obama being on Jay Leno for instance. And suggesting he was bashing the Special Olympics now too. To me things like that are just plain silly.
On the other hand I am quite concerned about our faltering relations with Mexico, and all that violence going on at the border too (both sides of it!). They are trying to be vengeful about our cutting off the free-flow of foreign trucks thoughout the country too. And there's just no way we should be allowing that to go on.
Then there's Botox-Queen-Pelosi, stirring things up again, promoting illegal immigration, money-mongering with the stimulus bill, and attacking the Dept of Homeland Security for having the audacity to actually enforce the law.. But then, she and her lackluster cohort Harry Reid always disturb me. Those ARE our leaders, right?
As for a questionable love-life, I have a lot of experience there too.. Unfortunately! heh heh
But we gotta maintain a positive outlook on things!

I know what you mean, I feel the same way. However, I dont let it get me down. I figure I must live with it, because my so called friends voted for him, and I need to try my best to still have a happy life. There is nothing I can do about it, I am to old now. However him bashing the Special Olympics did get my hair ruffled. And it would most parents with 'Special Children'. I can do something about that, and I will send him an e-mail today, to the White House. I will tell him that it is extra hard to raise a 'Special Child' specially when there is no help around. And that the parents (if the husband did not leave) have no life. I will write much more, I will keep it simple and I will make him cry. Botox-Queen-Pelosi had not heard that, was wondering why she always looks so good. That was funny WM, thanks for making my day.

I don't know that it's got to do with age though Edelweiss. They're not asking ANYONE for any input. What happened to "We the People"? Isn't that how it used to work?
About the Special Olympics, I just didn't think he meant for it to come out the way it did, or that he had anything derogatory in mind. But I can understand you (or anyone in that situation) being less than thrilled about the comment.
Yes Pelosi frequently puts her foot in her mouth it seems. And this instance about pandering to Illegal Aliens certainly made the Headlines in a very big way, as did her last recent faux pas about trying to force the Pentagon to fly her around all over in special military aircraft, just whenever she felt the urge, "Or The Speaker would be Very Upset"!. (now where did I put my violin??)
She's often referred to as the Botox-Queen way by funnymen like Jay Leno and others though, and is reputed be no stranger to facial adjustments. Some suggest she even gets facial adjustments for her cats! And some of her proposals for the Recovery Bill were just ludicrous. Whether they stayed intact or not, I'm not entirely sure. I suspect they did.
I just can't quite imagine her as third down from the Prez of the USA and in some circumstances could actually be put into that role. (I fear that would be the end of the USA as we know it).
Sadly I don't personally think we had very good choices this last election. Or the one before that either. At least not with the final two. McCain has a lot of historical shortcomings as well. I think he's better off where he is. But now I am pulling for Obama to make a difference, since he is the guy with the reins right now, and I'd really like to see the USA back on-track. That doesn't mean I am very optimistic though. All this wild spending is probably not going to pay dividends in the long term.
Spicy you had a 401k with AIG!?!? OhMyGawd!!! You poor thing! Well seems to me you should be eligible for a huge bonus then from the stimulus funds, don't you think? Perhaps several Mill at least?? Heck you'll be taking us all out to dinner! Or perhaps even to a villa in the Bahamas.

I think most folks keep looking for some sign of the bright side to all this Dmm. Surely there is a bright side to be found somewhere..
But when we just handed JP Morgan Chase 30 Billion of our hard-earned dollars, (which I sure could have used to help stimulate the economy myself - and I'll bet you could too), and they immediately go out and buy a new fleet of luxury private learjets they don't even need, also building a new luxurious hanger and climate-controlled storage facility to house them in, (all paid for by you and me), the brightness seems to become a little more illusive.
Then when Pelosi spends $30 Million of your money and mine, on studying Harvest Mice habitats in the San Francisco Bay area, all in the interest of economic recovery of course, it does raise an eyebrow or two about her motivations. Then when she promotes additional Illegal Immigration, and the non-enforcement of our national laws, calling it UN-American to protect our borders, when there are some 25,000,000-30,000,000 in our midst as we speak, all completely illegal and most with stolen identities, and almost all taking away American jobs and increasing the long unemployment lines, it becomes even harder to root and wait for a reasonable solution to be brought about by people like that, who are elected servants of the people.
Then when we realize all the 9/11 perps were Illegal Aliens too, that doesn't help bolster the faith much either.
But your point is a worthy one. Optimism is important. Let's keep looking for something bright to appear on the horizon. I've just never seen anything done quite this way before. There is so little logic in it. If I didn't know better, I might even suggest some of them are taking gross advantage of very unfortunate economical circumstances while they feel they can.

Dmm, first help me down from my soapbox willya?
Oh I dunno pardner, about that 2nd chart over there... Hmmm..
Jennifer Love has more goodies up-top than Jennifer Aniston??
Maybe she's recently gone in for umm, adjustment, but last I saw Love-Hewitt, seemed to me she resembled two raisins tacked on a board. Don't they refer to that as an 'A-' cup? (No offense to A- cups of course)

Nary a thing against nice upper-level assets, but I'm not so much a boob man either. Nor does size really matter a whole bunch. The particular ones I favor the most are a bit rare.
But give me a great set of legs, and a firm, curvaceous posterior, and I'm a happy guy. YEEHAW!!
