Since its getting close to Halloween (well that and lacyvsq seems to think we need new threads) I thought I'd mention there is a Houston ghost tour that meets at the Spaghetti Warehouse. I went a few years ago and it was pretty nifty.

Like any ghost tour the charm of this wasn't the hope of actually spotting a ghost or getting some goofy orb on your photographs but the stories behind each location. (My favorite being an old hospital which has probly been demolished since then)

Not sure if its the same as when I went but 2 of the locations we stopped at were "haunted" pubs which were of course open for business at the time. Just thought I'd mention this since you probly do need to be able laugh at your self to appreciate some of the destinations due to how silly you might look to people who aren't on the tour and just out having some drinks. The tour actually provided everyone with ghost hunting meters that let you see how much eletricity was in your area (this allowing you to indicate if you may be near a ghost and should take a picture) so yeah you will look pretty goofy at times, heh.

Having just found the website I see they also do Galveston tours so that might be worth looking into as well if you're into this kind of thing.

Anyways here's the address if anyone is interested http://www.highspiritstours.com/id3.html

Interesting, thanks for the link. I have done one of the ghost tours there. It was less expensive, didn't have any tools provided and was on foot in Galveston in the Strand area. I did get some orb pix.

I have never been on the ones here in Houston or Galveston but went on one in San Diego in 05. Loved it got one fantastic shot there that the tour guide said was ectoplasm but I am not quite sure. To me it just looked like light reflection.

Don't get me wrong, I am into the real ghost hunts and I love going for the stories too, but I also what the feelings of ghost being there too plus the pictures. To me that would be the perfect tour.

Oh and I really don't have to go anywhere further than the retention pond in back of my apartment to get lots of orbs, streaks and rods and a few sprite pictures. They are usually the thickest during the full and new moons. Got great shots this last Friday and it didn't cost me a dime. Now that is the best point of all.

Way cool 3BearMom! I belong to two meetup ghost hunting groups. I usually only go to the one's they have here in Galveston tho. They are having a ghost hunter's Paranormal Ball Oct 21st at the Galveston Balinese Room. I am not sure but I think it may be private and you have to join the meetup.com group.

Spirit,

I am a member of one group here in Houston and I was invited to go to the ball,
but this is something that doesn't interest me. I want a real ghost hunt not a social
event.

Oh I was a member of another ghost hunting group in Houston but got kicked off of it
because I didn't like the social event the orginizer was trying to turn them into. Like
the ball.

Our last ghost hunt investigation turned into 60+ people going in and out of a haunted
jail in Richmond while this one kid kept giving his buddies a blow-by-blow description
of the hunt and talking so loud that he chased all the ghost away.

I voiced my opioion on the fact that children under 16 should not be allowed and got
booted out of their little club. Oh well me and my big mouth will get me in trouble every
time.

But I do know that a lot of people will be there and it should be fun for those that like
social events and not just strick ghost hunting. Anyway if you are going enjoy.

They have changed the tours now, probably because of that, lol. They are making them rated. Now, I think they only have certain ages in some tours and they actually have complained by others about the yakking during the tours.
I read the message boards. They are disallowing people from bringing kids under 14 I think. And they made comments about the talking during the tours. They have a Friendswood tour group as well. I think maybe it was a split off from that Houston group.
Might want to check them out.

Spirit, Thanks I will check out the Friendswood group. The organizer for out group is not conducting the group right now, his wife just had their second child and he has been asking the lady that booted me if his group can join hers until he feels he can get out and about again.

This might take a while so I would love to find another group that will do till he can get back into organizing our groups outings. Thanks

No it's Gabriel’s group Houston Society 4 Paranormal Exploration I had been with them before then Gabe's wife got pregnant and he turned it over to someone and they got paranoid about some of the other groups stealing their members and tried to shut the group down so Gable took it back over.

The group is pretty good when Gabe is in charge and does the tours he chooses some really good spots. But he is entitled to a life I am just glad that I am still a member of some group.

As far as Elmo's group I have never been to an event with just his group, his group did join the Richmond jail tour and there was some conflict as to how was hosting the group him or Kim and a lot of tension and drama -- not my thing at all. Now they have both closed there groups to select people that the existing members vote on -- I guess I will never be a member there I am too independent in my thinking

Gee! I didn't know they closed it. I am a member of both of their groups. Maybe we can start a new group, lol!
Maybe an MD one!

You might want to check and see if you are still a member. I know that when they dumped me they sent me an email saying that they did not want me any more.

A-heinsohn sorry we kind of took over your forum. I would love to start a group of my own but I don't have the money right now to do it so I will take tours like the High Spirits and others that I am finding and go exploring on my own. I love cemeteries after dark and it is usually better to do them by myself or in a small group since it is illegal to be in a cemetary after sunset.

Like ghost hunting not jail.

3BearMom, don't worry about it. Just figured I'd mention something to do for Halloween or anytime of the year really and you two have added quite a bit of related info to that.

Those groups you both mentioned sound interesting. I'd be tempted to join one if I didn't wonder about how much needless drama there might be now, oh well. I actually got a book that lists hauntings and the stories attached for each city in the US so if I really am interested I'll probly just pick some to see on a road trip

The groups I mentioned are not the same as the one 3BearMom was in. Drama is everywhere. They have some fantastic toours and sometimes when you go as a group, you get better prices. That one tour with Amy, we paid $10 per person because we were a group price, I think. Maybe I am wrong about that. Also, we didn't have tools provided. Had to bring our own.

Usually I only take my digital camera and my ability to feel the spirits/ghost or haunted places. I can always come home with great pictures.

a_heinsohn I did not mean that you should not join one of the groups. For amateurs or people looking for the history of the places these are great ways of getting into locations that are normally closed to the normal person. The group organizers work very hard most of the time to get these arranged and prices reduce to allow their groups into them.

I am just upset about one of the organizers that has turned her group into social events instead of honoring the true ghost hunt, but that is just my opinion and should not amount to much to anyone but me.
