Wish I lived there -- I love to go fishing, can even bait my own hook, tie my own hook and clean and cook the fish I catch. --

Well,...theres lots of places down there to fish,...Get a fishing party started down there too!

I am going to a place on 1187 that's a bridge/river crossing after work today to try it out. Rumor has it that it's a good spot.

Never heard of the coconut oil thing but my grandmother was a snuff dipper and she always spat on her minnows and seemed to always catch the most fish.

I am used to salt fishing. I was told anise oil was an attractant as well. Maybe it is the oil that attracts fish. I know that when there is a feeding frenzy of trout, there is an oil slick from them pigging out and burping or puking when they eat too much. It smells like watermelon and you can see a shiny slick on the water.
By the way, if you have lures, the attractant oils will melt MANY of the plastics. I learned THAT the hard way.
I need to learn how to fresh water fish. I am close to a lake now since I moved but someone told me that the water level is REAL low last he heard at the Conroe lake.

Ahhh the memories. I used to go fishing every weekend with my dad and sister when I was about 8. I haven't been since I was 13. *sighs* Time to break out the rusty rod...

Does 50 miles south of the metroplex count palehorse?...LOL I was raised in Dallas, moved to the farm fresh out of high school and been here ever since. I can sit in my front pasture during bird season and get a mess of birds, go to the creek and clean em and come home and cook em up.
The same goes with any other kind of hunting and fishing. The thing about it is, I love to do those things. I am an avid cook and housekeeper too. Do you two step? We have to get out once in a while....LOL
By the way I can get to 1187 in about half an hour...:)

You can pier fish, wade fish, fish off a boat. My favorite pier washed away a few years ago. The one at the ferry on the Bolivar side. I hear there is another one in Gilchrist. They had a shark catching contest (catch and release) over the holiday weekend.
They have various places in Galveston but I am not real up on where to go in Galveston. I am sure Dntejas can get back to you on that tho.

That's why I bowfish. Who cares if the fish are biting? Just shoot them and reel them in!
