A Warm Central Texas welcome Ms Dyann! Thank you for all the nice complements you sent out to the MD community and I am willing to bet that you will fit right in here with us. Remember that there are a lot of scammers out there and for you to keep your street smarts about you. As you find your way around this MD community you will be able to figure it out. If I may give a suggestion “Post a Picture” make sure it is current and then feel free to add other pictures if you so like. You have a nice and warm day down there in Southern Texas. Dwain

Hi Dyann, and welcome to MD, from chilly ETex! I like it here too, for much the same reasons. Hope you meet lots of friends and no bad dates. LOL

Well, SOME of us live here because we love the heat. I grew up in Vermont (although my father is from Arp, here in ETex) and always hated the cold. I moved here on purpose. Last summer we went without A/C even. It was that or pay $500 electric bills. LOL I still love the heat, even after that.

Ah The heat in Texas.. Oh My.. It gets pretty hot here. I grew up in VA. and was not so pleasantly suprised at the heat. Although over the years, It's not so bad.. Except for as Momabird2k mentions.. The electric bills.. LOL

Wow, that is real high for electric. I think maybe real old equipment and the filters are not cleaned and changed. I got rid of ALL my old electrical appliances and bought all new over a year or two and my bills fell down enormously. I have already paid for the cost of the appliances in what I saved. Plus I put in my own insulation...the blown in cellulose, crumbled and tossed by hand. Took weeks to do it. Can't stay in an attic long.
