If both parties know it is a marraige of convenience and both are trustworthy, I do not see a whole lot of problem. It could turn bad or it could become something special over time. Check on the legalities of it, considering why the people involved are doing it. It could be a federal offense in some cases like in someone getting their greencard.
Many marraiges are marraiges of convenience. It is not love. They just do not want to work that hard being alone so stay in loveless marraiges. I say this due to seeing how many people have had nasty divorces because they satyed too long in that type of marraige. Be very careful to check for disease before getting hitched and check later as well. No love, very little loyalty perhaps.
I would more likely post this thread to the general forum or dating and romance. The Tx threads do not have all that much traffic. If that is, you want a wider opinion base.

I believe they can work; as far as I've seen, people seem to do it pretty often. As long as the people know what they are getting into, and have a mutual understanding that its not for love, it could work pretty well. I've heard of people doing it for the sake of extra financial security, which is probably not a bad idea, especially with the difficulties the economy have faced lately. On the other hand, without a good understanding of the purpose of the relationship, jealousy could arise, especially if the couple looks elsewhere for love and/or sex. Its not something I would do, because I believe a relationship works much better with love as a foundation, but from a purely practical point of view, I think its workable.

Marriages of convenience DO NOT WORK. Marriages are built on the foundation of love and God. It may be convenient to fall in lust or wade off the fear of being alone. In the long run, those marriages will not work. If you don't believe me look at the statistics yourself. The divorce rate is ridiculous in the United States.
Many people marry only seeing the positive of such a (legal) relationship and when things are no longer desirable for one or both in the relationship, someone wants to bail out. That is not true love. That is temporary convenience. Those who marry for the right reasons ride out the hard and tough times and I have to say that is not very convenient. But that is what makes a marriage work. Don't marry unless it is for love. Otherwise you will go through the inevitable.

Those never work. My ex-husband did that 8 months after our divorce and the marriage ended less than a year later (dumb @ss) and an ex-bf did the same thing and he ended up married and divorced 3x's (dumb @ss). I was wondering if these guys were going to marry for love and not because they needed to have someone watch the kids.
