I'm 100 + miles outta Houston area but gonna have some impact from the hurricane (wind rain). Prolly gonna have to seek shelter at a local Walmart & not stay here in a trailer ...in the woods.

I hope you can get back out, Justin. I hear there is flooding in places already from the storm surge.

I hope everyone gets home safe. We're headed back from Arkansas right into Dallas and the storm. Leaving early in the morning. Wish us luck.

Spirit Energy has no electricity. Doesn't know if her DSL is working. Only one phone jack works. 2 or 3 downed trees. Most of her fence is down. But she's okay.

I just got home and the wind is starting to really pick up. It rained on us from the time we hit Oklahoma the rest of the way. I'm glad to be under cover and hunkered down for the night. My daughter says that the wind is really howling at her place - she's southeast of Dallas.

Whatagal sorry to read about your car and all! Glade that a cold front from out in west Texas push Ike over just enough to miss the Westside of I35. We got a little wind and rain on or off in the morning and cleared by the afternoon! We did get a lot of evacuees up here in Bell County, and doing our best to accommodate there needs! My heart and best wish go to all my friends down in Houston and surrounding areas!

I am pretty good right now. All utilities are back and most of the offending trees are cut up and on the street. The 8 ft wooden fence that was mostly down is now disassembled and stacked and waiting for more energy to rebuild it. I have a temporary wire fence in place of most of the downed placed and stood some back up.
I will buy new 4x4's and put them in a little at a time till I can cure the concrete then start up the planks, replacing any broken planks. These planks are 7 ft long with a foot of 1x6 runner boards at the bottom. I don't think they make those 7 footers anymore.

People are telling me the debris from Bolivar Peninsula is showing up in Mississippi and all the way down to Corpus Christi. They say they are still looking for people, alive or dead on the peninsula and even going out much further trying to locate people that are missing.
One friend says her neighbor has a daughter working for disaster control and they ordered 1000 body bags. I have no idea what that means. It may just be that many people they have not figured out where they are.
I am sure some are just in areas where they cannot call out and get in touch with the rest of the world. Hoping anyway.
