I am a single mom, and yes it is hard most of the time. I am Mom and Dad to my adolescent son. I am his emotional, mental and physical support system, it takes a toll, but I assured him I will never fail him. Because that's my duty as a loving mother. As I see it, I need to be 10 times as good as a regular mom because he has no dad in the picture, we are truly alone and have only each other. Finances are hard, very hard. So I am resourceful, and if need be, I sleep less and work more. I have long ago given up pride, if I have to ask for help with groceries, I go and ask. I have even given up meeting someone for years until My son could understand and be comfortable with that sort of thing, without feeling threatened by any other relationship that would take away his mom. I have given up a lot, but in the end I wouldn't have it any other way.
