It can be hard in a remote area. Are there any clubs you can join? Buy a puppy take it to a park, alot of people hook up this way, my cousin just got married last mont, he found his wife walking his dog at a park.. Just a thought..

I live in a small town and it isn't any easier here. Pickings are VERY slim to none. Wish I had the answer for you cause I've wondered the same for myself.

I live in a very remote area also, and as Cupcake said, pickins here are slim to none. My suggestion is, make yourself known in the forums. You'll find out a lot more about someone here than just by their profile. And who knows, you may just happen upon someone that makes you feel all giddy inside.

I had a Golden Retreiver years ago when I was younger and they are a lot of work. My apartment is only 399 sq. feet ,so that kind of throws that ides out.

If you are closer than 125 miles to an airport, than you are!. I have to gas up to go to the store. The local store closed down because the health department found dropping for 3,000 rats, so I never shopped there after that.

You seem to be doing what you need to be doing. Get away from the desolate place and go into the city enjoying the theater and going about doing other things you like to do in the city. Maybe find some other soul on MD who like theater and make a date. There has to be some single men in Tucson that is looking for good woman like yourself!

It is hard to meet people in remote area. I live in a small town and I know how you feel. I just try to go to the bigger town's and get out more. I know it is not easy. I have been there and done that, I am still doing that. It will be nice for me as in 6 year's I can move to another area. In fact Arizona is where plan to move. I am just hanging in there for now.

Hey, I know how you feel! I live in a small area myself, but for me it isn't just the size of the town. I live in the rural south, after having lived in Tucson for 15 years..........can we say culture shock!!!!!! Most men my age who live in this area haven't the slightest idea how to turn on a computer and the other half can't get an internet connection. So that leaves hardly any way to meet anyone. Everyone here has known everyone else their entire life.

There are no sorts of social gatherings and when you are obviously not from this area people tend to shy away. I also have another handicap, I am 52 and while I have raised 4 beautiful adult children I still have a 10 yo daughter living with me........so looking for me is a waste of time, I just love to read these forums.

After I left my husband I moved to a very, very small town close to where I grew up and I knew most of the people in the area. It really was great raising my two daughters with the children of my former classmates. I lived there (single the whole time-mostly cause I didn't have time for a relationship for myself) for a little over a decade and I noticed an odd pattern. People either 1) changed partners due to divorce or 2) obtained a partner via a recent widower. Scary but true.

With that said, I've recently relocated to be closer to my two grandchildren and it is sooooo much more isolated than where I lived before!

So if anyone figures this one out... let me know! LOL!

What do you think of the idea of starting some sort of event or get together, in order to not only help yourself meet others ,but you never know what kind of favor you may be doing for someone else in similar circumstances.? Getting started is usually the hardest part. Good luck! -Vnnila

Well, you can find me food shopping on Sunday mornings at the superstore, or in the park Saturday or Sunday afternoons if the weather is nice.
