What are you thinking?

Today I went to the grocery store here in San Antonio. It was about 97 degree outside. I go in and get what I need. There is a car parked beside me that I saw when I went in and when I came out it was still there. As I was loading my stuff in my car, this woman with a child that I guess was hers, comes out and plops the child on the trunk of the car. The kid is wearing a diaper and shorts. He starts crying. She looks at the kids and starts digging around in her purse for her keys. The kids is crying louder. She tells him to hush and she will get him in a minute. The kid is about 1. I have a mouth from hell. I said in no uncertain terms that maybe taking the child off the broiler that she put him on might make him quit crying. She looked at me like I had lost my mind.

I mean come on. Metal heats up people. Think about it. This car had been sitting in the direct sun for about 45 minutes...the lenght of time I was in the store...but it was there before I was so I dont know how long really. The kid is wearing shorts and this woman just plopps him right up there like he is a bag of groceries. It had to have been extreamly hot. I was so pissed.

Then there are the morons who leave their kids in the car and go inside and FORGET that the kid is left sitting in a hot car in a carseat. Trapped. HOW THE HELL DO YOU FORGET YOU HAVE A FREAKING CHILD? I mean does the fact that there is no one bugging you not indicate that something is missing. I mean its been along time since I have had a baby, but crap, my 17 year old still buggs me.

I just get so mad sometimes when I see people who I am sure are normal caring parents who have a brain freeze or something. I think we should subject them to the same things that they do to thier children. But then that would violate thier civil rights.

I've heard of instances when so-called "parents" have left their children (or pets) in the car in the boiling heat while they go shopping, and come back later to find their child (or pet) dead from the extreme heat!

When you are a parent, there is NO EXCUSE for behaviour like that, althoug in the case you're speaking about Raven, I am sure the woman probably did just have a "brain-freeze" or something.

And you were right to say something, I would probably have said something too... the stupid woman needed a kick to get her mind in gear again!

Aw, god yes! I sometimes think that "joe public" has got total brain freeze. There is no excuse as China said above for that kind of behavior, although honest people do make mistakes. It is the dang "hurry up and get ahead, or hurry up and multitask" mentality of todays world that doesn't help either!

what a trauma!!! some diapers do conduct heat and not to talk of the high temperatures in san antonio. oh God, I just can't help thinking what that poor kid went through...that was more than hell.
you did absolutely the right thing alerting her.... but even if you were on the wrong, what the heck...... sometimes its necessary to do something wrong cos it feels right
