issue one: should we still have vehicle inspections in this state?
my thoughts are inconclusive on this. on one hand, it tells motorists that their car is either safe or it needs repair. the other side- look at the cars around without a valid sticker. there is hardly any enforcement as far as inspections are concerned.

Good question, I don't really have an answer either. It is, frustrating, though, that living up here near the Ohio River, Ohio vehicles can be nothing but rust buckets, yet, are still able to drive freely. This, isn't the case, of course, here in WV. On the inspections, remember, though, that the state takes in quite a bit of money through them so I'm not sure that they would ever do away with the practice.

actually, the state only gets one dollar and sixty-six cents from each sticker. the remaining eleven dollars is a labor charge. they could easily get rid of it and save money in sticker printing fees and administration costs.

It seems to me with all the taxes we're paying on "personal property" that the state should include our state inspection with that. I know that the taxes are paid county by county but surely there's some way to incorporate those two particular things saving EVERYONE some money....."frustrated cause i just paid the taxes, renewed the tags, and had to have inspection" IN THE SAME DAY!!! no party for me this weekend....ugh!

now the boys in charleston are considering cutting the personal property taxes on vehicles if the owner makes less than the poverty level in income. of course, they want to keep the food tax at 5% and also add six cents a gallon to the fuel tax on January 1.
which is more beneficial to the working man: cutting a small tax once a year for a car or cutting the tax on food?
