This person have messaged me before, cannot really recall very much but message me again. Ask for my phone number and I stupidly gave it, then he called, ask for my name then gave an excuse he has to call me back in 3 hours because he has to drive his children to his EX. Never called. that was not what bothered me. The fact that I duped into giving out my number and I have a suspicion he the Profile is a scam?? What harm can a person do if they have your phone number?

Well presumably, with your phone number and real name, he could find your address and then perpetuate an identity theft. Be proactive, check your credit report regularly and tell all your card companies to alert you to any unusual activity in your account or any change of address. Learn from this and next time don't be so quick to give personal information until after you have met the person and known him for a longer time.

I've been told its actually quite difficult to complete an id theft just from your name and telephone number. Be wary though. I use a shortform of my real first name I also don't give out my phone number until I feel ready. Never, ever, ever give info like where you work, personal id numbers or trust anyone that asks you for personal information before you feel comfortable with them. Good idea to liase with the bank and cc companies.

Your reading too much into this... How do you know it was a "scam profile" if all he did was message you?
However the previous posters are correct, don't give out too much personal information till you have a sense as to how things are going.
But giving your first name and phone number isn't such a big deal and certainly won't result in any identity theft. I would venture a guess that your "interest" had other things on his plate and he decided that maybe this wasn't a good time. Perhaps he should have let you know but if you've chatted a bit, meeting and exchanging phone numbers is OK in my books.... I wouldn't hesitate.

A scammer contacted me one. I played along. When he ask me for my phone number, I gave him the number to the FBI in Raliegh.
