I have experienced this a couple of times..luckily I like animals..and they seem to like me...but c'mon.... don't judge whether or not you want to see someone based on if your cat likes them ...this is silly.

Actually, my animals (cats, dogs, and horses) are wonderful indicators to what someone is "really" like.........actually, that's not a completely correct statement......one cat, dog, and horse are complete hussys and will suck up to anyone that comes along.....not discriminating at all! The rest are pretty good indicators and are selective in the humans they associate with and extend their friendship to. I have learned to "listen" and watch my animal companions.......and watch how people interact with them.........If you are afraid of animals.....or are mean to them, you're not my kind of guy.........NEXT!

Well, I have found animals, especially friendly, like my little dog who will go with anybody, i mean anybody. (He jumps into strangers cars if they got kids.)
If he refuses to let a person pet him or growls at them, I would not allow that person near me. or would extremely limit contact with that person.
animals sense when something is wrong. and they do their best to protect you from harm. Sometimes you have to listen.
Once a salesman came to my grandma house, the dog ginger, who is normally complacent and nice, would not leave grandma alone in the livingroom with this man. Good thing too.
during the sales call, when grandma refused to buy his junk, he got angry, stood up and tried to hit her, Ginger took his arm off.
Sometimes animals just know.

NO!!!!!!...if someone do that to me it will be it!!!.......I love animal...but what i don't love, is a person that behave worse than an animal...........When an animal do not like someone or something.....the sircustances are pretty obvious.....so then you don't need AN animal advice.......all the strems are BAD!!! ...LEAVE PETS ALONG IN IT'S PURE WORLD DO NOT CONTAMINATE THEM!!!!!..........THEY DO NOT SEE BADNESS LIKE US.......

I am in agreement with Snowite......sometimes animals "just know" and have different senses than we do and aren't all wrapped up in the situation, the person, or the hormones, and what we are "seeing" or "hearing" or what we want to see or hear.........they just know what they know and act appropriately!
I do not base all of my relationships on if my cat, dog, or horses "like the person", but if the person is not an "animal person", and I am, that would put a strain on any type of relationship.

I've owned just about every animal imaginable...and I love em all. As far as judging a person's character....absolutely. Dogs seem to have a keener sense than most other animals and are better able to demonstrate their feelings.... verbally or physically, than most other animals.
If my pitty disliked someone I've just met...your bet your hiney, I'd be leary of that person. My pitty is a really freindly dog..loves people...so if he takes an instant dislike to someone...I'm going to heed his "advice".

C'mon now.. don't be so silly...animals minds..es[pecially cats aren't even on the same level as humans... I mean you are talking about critters that mate with anyone from their own litter? Duh,,,, even Hitler had a dog who I am sure thought he was the best ever.... enough proof ?

.... No silliness here Ryth!! It's a proven fact... that animals can sense things that we, as humans, can't. Earthquakes, hurricanes, and cancer ....to mention a few.

Yes but we are not talking about earthquakes etc...show me proof anywhere an animal senses a person's slyness...lying or personality? Nope.... Earthwuakes .. weather etc are simply senses by animals of certain types more due to their keener sense of smell...hearing etc. This is sensing physical conditions..not personal traits get it? And no I am not disgruntled..I have never met an animal who didn't take tome right away...just how you move towards them...approach them or the tone of your voice etc. People just need to admit and face the reality their pets are PETS...dogs of course being the best pets of all as far as actually willing to even give their own life to save their masters. You or anyone else cannot tell me... any dog or cat is as intelligent as a human.. hahha not possible...and this is more than proven.

I beg to differ...but we all have our own opinions. Who said animals were on the same level as humans, in regards to intelligence? What everyone is saying here is that some animals have abilties, that we, as humans, do not possess...get it? Oh.... and you should have stated "some humans" in your post. I've known many a dog, that's by far...smarter than some humans I've seen.

Indirectly you, for an animal to have a keener sense of a person's personality...not only would they have to be on the same level....but actually above the level of a human....and face it..in reality... there is no animal cat or dog you have ever really known...that was for real actually more iontelligent than a human.... think about it. It is impossible. If I myself liked a person..I certainly wouldn't have my view changed by an animal disliking them... this is just plain silly. Let's be realistic here...If there was ever a case where it could happen how dumb would the person have to be if they didn't notice it and a dog did? Bear in mind..I love dogs and think they are fantastic friends...so i am not putting down animals.... but certainly a person should have enouigh smarts..and perception themselves to not have to depend on an animal.Rediculous.Anyone believing that woulds also think their dog gets bored when they arent around and gets into trouble,. It is a scientific fact their minds are incapable of this. they just are free to do things for a longer period when we are not there. Also in fact.. dogs have abosolutely no perception of time at all. Another fact...I suggest reading up on it a bit ...no need for a rebuttal... it;s a silly topic. I just started the thread because I was curious if it was common or not.

No rebuttal here Ryth...like I said..you have your opinion and I have mine. There's really no need to call people's opinions "silly" or "ridiculous", simply because they do not agree with your "higher knowledge". For some reason, I get the feeling that you didn't start this thread because you are so called "curious"...but for the simple fact that you like a debate. Why else would you dismiss everyone's comments and/or opinions as being silly and ridiculous?....pointless, really.

Not true... there are many opinions on here . Do I call them all rediculous? Of them many thousands..I have referred to only a few as such. This is because i am a realist and like to get to the point quickly.Face it..some are.Sometimes it is better not to try to debate..but simply get to the point.I am confident on my views because they are not affected by peers or whatever I read. I do not believe everything I see..I think if you are going to make a statement..have the proven facts to back it...not hypothetical ones. I do not read peoples threads on subjects..I just comment on the one I have read.I do not like to debate...I avoid it in reality...certainly do not wish to debate online where you need to wait maybe days to reply. But i will not back down on what I believe just because another has confronted me on it.You are taking this too seriously. These are just people making comments...I am sorry if they are not all to your liking.. but we are all different.. I highly doubt any one on here is actually trying to "personally" insult anyone. This is not a place to get personal as you seem to be doing...but a place tp post your views..whatever they may be. You actually think from a few posts you really know me well enough to make a statement like you did? that I posted a comment simply to look for a debate? No you do not....so I suggest keeping to the topic...and keeping the "personal" stuff out of it. You are sooooooo far off base....this just shows you can't really know a person online....I wasn't trying to force a debate...if I said I thought a comment was silly...it is because I thought it was actually that...I started this post simply because I was wondering if other had also experienced someone judgeing them by their pet.It is that simple. There is nothing beyond that to read into. You made some comments...i debated them...now you are having a problem handling it. My advice "Chill...." and don't take it all so seriously.PS saying something is silly I think gets the point across pretty quick do you not think..instead of beating around the bush?

Ryth........simply put here:
If you walked in to a room, my cat would more than likely walk out and/or hide until you left. She would not boldly come up and greet you, nor sit near you. She is sensitive to personality types and "vibes" people emanate.....and you would be the type she would avoid.
There are those of us out here that simply watch our pets' reactions to people. I consider their track history on what I later found out about that person as I got to know them, and that pet knew right off the get-go, if they were a "keeper" or not.

Hmmmm this is a tough one..personally I would never do it...and have turned it down. My friends were there first....it si simply a matter of priorities for me.Can destroy a good friendship also.....so I personally would never go out with anyone who was with one of my friends...there are so many out there.. why take the chance? Any other views on this? Is it wrong or ok to date your friends ex?
*insert very confused smiley here*

No...absolutely not. Like I stated in another thread. There is no need....what-so-ever, to label other's opinions as "silly" "ridiculous" or "dumb"....this is immaturity at it's best. Use some tact and sensibility.

We all are referring to statements here...not to the person who made them specifically....
Well once more I am requesting you stop getting personal on these forums...and especially where i am concerned..it is not appreciated... I have never referred to anyone as dumb or silly... there is a big difference in saying I think it's silly to to do something.... as opposed to calling that actual person silly themselves overall. Can you see the difference here?As I have stated before these are not personal posts... people are just stating their views..not referring to people specifically and actually calling them names.. as you seem to like to do. Try to stick to the topic at hand...this is why there are different posts... different debates or different groups of comments. Can you not stay on track and leave the personal side out of it..or is this too big a chore for you?

Posting in a forum is personal, like it or not. That is why what we post is refered to as a 'Personal Opinion.'
As far as some people listening/paying attention to their animals reactions when it comes to the people we have in our lives (significant others or just friends), I believe that animals can sometimes sense the true nature of a person easier than some humans can simply because emotions are not a factor for them. At the best of times as humans, emotions can cloud our judgement (unfortunately). Our beloved pets do not suffer that problem.
