Cell phones

I caught the last ten minutes of Blind Date on Spike TV. The guy got a call on his cell phone and totally ignored his date. Needless to say that she thought that THAT was rude! Five minutes later, SHE got a call on her cell phone. The guy wasn't angry, he just called his friend while she was on her cell.
I heard that a lot of females use the cell phones during their dates - a friend calls and the woman answers....if she's having a good time she'll hang up (after saying bye, of course)...if she's having a bad or not good enough time, then she'll say that something just came up and she has to leave.
I think the people should turn off their cell phones during a date.
Right?

Right. I have a rule about that! If you're on a date with me, then you better friggin' leave that phone in the CAR. I'm giving you my complete rapt attention. If you can't do the same, then screw you!

Or should I say, you don't have a chance at getting screwed?

If it is a first date, and you have arrangements with somebody to call you to see if everything is ok, then yes. If you have them with youjust in case some one might want to chat with you??? No,,,nope,,nada....

Of course, some people have no problem because their dog eats the charger all the time..

Some people take that sort of thing more seriously than others.

Boyfriend charged in swallowed cell-phone case
Faces assault charges for forcing device down girlfriend's throat

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Missouri man has been charged with forcing a cell phone down his ex-girlfriend’s throat last week.

Police in Kansas City say Marlon Brando Gill has been charged with felony assault.

According to court documents, Melinda Abell told detectives that Gill grabbed her by the mouth and shoved the cell phone until it became lodged in her throat. Surgeons had to remove it.

It's just plain rude.

I do to mogirl,I can keep in tract with my customers, inspectors and material delivery times so less time is wasted on the job site.My kids can get ahold of me wether I'm home or working.
Taking them on a first date is pretty stupid though.

I keep my phone on and on the table if I'm at dinner on a date, and I make sure I tell the guy I'm with that I'll only answer it if i's my kids. Otherwise, I just hit the 'silence' button and continue on.

If it's a first date and the guy takes a phone call and it's obviously not an emergency or family situation, that's it for me. No more second dates.

phone is usually with me in the car at all times, these days, meeting and greeting you can't be too careful, can you? you can be smart but still something could happen..it almost always does.

My phone is usually on vibrate so if it goes off, I don't have to answer it, and it's not annoying to the other person. If I feel I can completely trust the guy, the phone is still with me, but left in the car while on the date.

yea, 'what date'

are you kidding me? turn off my cell? no way! My job warrants a great deal of time being spent on my cell phone. I receive national and international calls anytime especially from international clients...yanno time difference. so I can't just afford to power off my cellular just for a sec. what I do on a date is, I switch its ringing tone to silent vibration and tell her up front that, I'd be very sorry for any calls received during our date. During this time, I don't answer calls without an ID, well for politeness sake, except international calls.
One of the reasons why I've got like 2 cell phones.

I have kids so phone stays on but on vibrate if need be .... And I have been lucky enough on dates if the guy gets a call and its NOT his kids they just let it go to messenger.... my kids KNOW only to call if its a DIRE emergency (and they better be friggin bleeding ) they are mosttime HAPPY to see mom get out and about ... but then again Ill usually call home tocheck on them but either really quick or combine it with a trip to the restroom ..
