... in order to avoid washing the car?
Me (and mine is a van), far as using one of them gas station squeegee thingies for washing all the windows, including removal of various bird splashings. (squeegee). Plus I wash by hand the side view mirrors.
One day a couple weeks ago (nowhere near a gas station), I kept filling up a glass of water and pouring the contents on a couple bird piles. They actually DO soften up readily and begin flowing away with no more than the force of dropping water.
I deplore washing a vehicle. What a waste of time. Besides, less attractive to thieves. I do sweep the interior though.
Being a silver car (there are only two color of cars anymore, silver and white, a few blacks), the dirt hardly shows on the paint anyway)
So, just wondering how often people wash their vehicles and what energy and cost they expend in order to present that shiny image.

I hate a dirty car. Mine is gold in color, with a tan leather interior, and doesn't show dirt that much, but I still hate it.
I take it to a car wash service here in town once a month. Exterior/Interior for $25.00. Whether it needs it or not.

another question might be: is there air in that fake tire in your trunk? and why is there a fake tire in your trunk to begin with? that insta flate stuff is about 2 bucks. as with every single aspect of life, most folks worry about "how I look". a sure sign of being independent is "when ya push the button and it don't go" do ya say "git out of my way, i gotta fix this" or "wheres a man when ya really need one" LOL

I tend to go with the 'natural look' too. Mine's a silver convertible with a black top and I've had it for about two years now. It's been washed occasionally, and yes, I give it a lick and a promise when the birds have decorated it, but the top is black with a tinge of red (our desert dust here is reminiscent of a Marsscape). If I'm really bored (i.e. can't get into Matchdoctor forums for some reason) I've been known to detail it myself. As we're in monsoon right now, I know this would last an hour at best, until the next winds came along to turn it silver and black with a reddish glow on it once again...kind of like styling my hair...it's gonna do what it's gonna do...why fight it.

Eeeek!
Actually, I have earnestly wondered. My own laziness is noteworthy, so no intention to disparage others. If anything, I might be wondering how many are willing to direct precious time (you might say 'waste') trying to look good.
On the other hand, that sort of thing goes in cycles for me, willingness to look sloppy followed by a desire to appear spiffed up, car and all. So, just making conversation, I guess.

I've had my car for 2 years and 4 months and it's been washed about 8 times. I may also want to add that it is WHITE.

Wash my car? That's what car washes are for. You give the nice man your keys. You give the nice lady your money. You read a magazine for a few minutes. Your car comes out the other end of the building washed, vacuumed, etc.

Yep, same here...half the people in Phoenix have silver Sebring convertibles. Sometimes I feel like I'm in a parade, when I''m sandwiched in between a couple of others. Mine's got its own distinctive red dusting on the top, as well as my little Jack in the Box snowman smoking a pipe on the antenna. At least I stand a prayer of finding the right one in the parking lot.

My car gets washed when the kids are playing with the waterhose or when it rains. Now the motorcycle is another story. She gets shined up before she leaves the driveway on most occasions.

I"ll have you all know I've done it...a few times... and felt pretty proud of it... but not motivating enough to get me to do it regularly. . But in S. FL if it's not raining a lot we're having a DROUGHT, in which case, as a very consciencious citizen, it's my duty to conserve water... I found this "car wipes" at the Dollar Store though...but then I forget to use them...
