I was feeling a little down over the last couple of weeks and decided I needed to do something drastic to "pick myself up". So, I decided that coloring my hair would be just the thing to do it. Anywho's, I'm not one to color my hair except maybe once a year or so. A little gray coverage, perhaps a few highlights every once in a while. I never tried any of the "at home" kits. I always always always went to my hairdresser for such things. Well, this time I figured, I could do this at home. Simple!!!! No problem!!!! WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, I read ALLLLLLLLLL of the instructions, cautions, and hints and tips. A friend of mine helped me (since I have soooooo much hair to color and so forth) and we proceeded to color my hair. When we finished the coloring and I dried my hair, I couldn't see very much change in my hair color. It was supposed to "lighten" my hair color. It didn't. Soooooooooo what did we do??? We went out and bought yet ANOTHER kit (same kind as before) and we did it AGAIN!!!! It lightened it up. Turned me to a pretty shade of mahogany except a little lighter. Not too bad. I actually kind of liked that color even if it wasn't exactly what I was aiming for. Then we decided that I could use a few highlights. Uh-huh... I can just see the folks who know about this stuff laughing right now and saying "oh no you didn't". Oh YES I did!!!!! Let's just say that after 2 hours of working on my hair, the end result was ORANGE!!!!!!!!! Bright bozo the clown took a dump on my head ORANGE!!!!! Can you even imagine how upset I was?????? Mortified doesn't even begin to cover how I felt.
Anyway, I called my hairdresser the next day and asked him if he used "metallic" based products in my hair and he replied no. Then he asked me "what in the world have you gone and done?" to which I replied " I tried to color my hair". All I could hear at the point was him laughing hysterically on the phone and telling his boyfriend (partner in his business, both WONDERFUL hairdressers) what I had done and I heard HIM laughing too! He set me an appointment for thurs.morning so he could undo the damage to my hair. It was priceless. You really had to be there to see the look on their faces when I walked in there. Took him 3 tubes of coloring to get my hair back to some semblance of "normal" color......lol
The most embarrassing part of the story is, I colored my hair on Tuesday night. My hair appointment wasn't until Thursday morning. The HUGE Tri-County Fair parade was WEDNESDAY night!!! I ended up sitting and watching the parade (where EVERYONE who knew me was) with ORANGE hair!!!!
I can honestly say this was my most embarrassing moment!!
How bout you folks?? Whats the most embarrassing thing you've ever done???

I am definitely laughing about it now. I shared this so that other's too may enjoy my moment of embarrassment (especially since tension seems to be running so high these days...... I think it's the heat)....
Yes. We took a picture. My friend said as soon as she finishes that roll of film she'll give me a copy of it. I'm gonna post it too!!!!!!
It really is too funny. I'm a firm believer in laughing and I figure if you can't laugh at yourself, then you don't have any right to laugh at others, and there are just wayyyyyyy too many funny people out there.

Welcome back, Harl!
Non-bowel/bladder related...
Put a suction cup to my forehead which left a mark.
Last night, I returned the ball to our softball pitcher from the plate and also hit the first base woman.
Kareoke is always a laugh a minute...
Asked a woman if she was pregnant. She wasn't!

Bravo, Harleys! Did your hair also get kinda dry and fuzzy? LOL
My story also involves hair coloring ...
I used to color my hair every shade of red from dark auburn to light red. I had been doing this for years, so it was kinda routine. Well, one evening I colored it, and went to work the next day. Someone made a comment about my multicolored hair (I think the word used was "piebald"...LOL), and I didn't know what they were talking about.
I went to the bathroom and looked at the back of my hair, and Lo! and Behold! I had missed some of the back, so I had some much lighter areas in the middle of my head! I laughed and laughed at my complacency in not having checked the back after dyeing it....and went home and redyed it ASAP.
(The ironic thing, Harleys, is that I WANTED to have Ronald McDonald bright orange/red hair, but could never achieve that shade. I should have tried your method..... )

OMG... my mother had orange hair back in the 70's. We have this picture of her wearing this BRIGHT green outfit and her BRIGHT orange hair.
I can't believe I'm typing this but here goes...
We were waterskiing at the gorge one year with a bunch of friends. Now this always was accompanied by lots of drinking. We had been on the water a good portion of the day and I had to pee. The guys (now we know why he's my ex) wouldn't take me in to shore and said just hang over the side, we won't look. Well... they didn't look, until I lost my footing ( I did mention drinking, right?) and kersplash... into the river and into a forest of milfoil. Those boys sure did get a laugh in.

Yep,,Katt shaking here head,,,,so you say you had a warm Mahogeny color. Which means,,,,,you have a tendency for red, then you colored it,not just once. But 2 times! Then decided to hi-light.
Shaking head, trying not to giggle.
Been there done that. I do my own hair at home. I do know not to try any "golden" colors and to stay away from anything with strawberry in it.
By the way, do you have hard water?? That will really turn your hair red. At least it wasn't green huh?

lol Katt.... My natural hair color is dark brown. Almost the color of dark chocolate. My hairdresser has used gold colors on my hair before, but he said what my hair did this time was called "color grabbing". The coloring had a nice effect, but the highlighting color had a "red dye" to it.
At least I know better now. He made me promise on all that is dear and sacred to me that I would NEVER EVER EVER try this myself again!!
Bravo, Harleys! Did your hair also get kinda dry and fuzzy? LOL Thank God NO!!! I've always been very fortunate to have gorgeous hair naturally. Hairdresser told me that if I hadn't always taken such good care of my hair before that fiasco, I could have easily burned/fryed my hair. I guess paying a lil extra for the good shampoos and conditioners paid off finally!!

At least it wasn't green huh? I did that once!!! I bleached my hair blonde and needed a touchup so used a metallic spray and forgot to warn my beautician (who was a good friend, fortunately)...spinach green!! I learned an awful lot about hair dye and dye removers that day (I was about 18 or so...and I'm STILL waiting impatiently to go grey enough to dye it blonde without stripping it )

Wow Jankia...is that the same as "if like gives ya oranges, make orange juice"?
My mom is a brunette and tried going blonde one summer. She didn't realize that all the meds she was on effected her hair, and it turned a loverly shade of lavender. Too bad it wasn't Easter time, because she looked like a dyed Easter Chick.

I love this post. In a moment of total insanity, I decided to give myself a home perm. Not a good idea - I ended up looking like a poodle and had to go to work for 3 days before I could get in to see a stylist. I got some very strange looks.
