That seems to be common practice among the larger sites. Yahoo was also charged with a similar thing not too long ago if I remember right. All of which make you appreciate places like this even more.
I hope Match and Yahoo get the book thrown at them...

Seems the only contacts I ever got a Yahoo were the scams. I always suspected that they allowed them to encourage me to pay for the service.

Well POF doesn't charge anything I don't believe. Hard to prove damages when you didn't pay anything to begin with. Now Yahoo and Match, they charge a lot. If the charges are proven, they could even be charged with Racketeering.
Imagine that, Yahoo might have just replaced the wise guys in NYC...

That's why I came to Matchdoctor.com. They are free to use so they have no reason to ever post fake profiles. It has probably been suspected that other sites do that but Matchdoctor.com is free - they dont charge for you to email people or put up your profile, so there is no reason for them to do fakes.

yahoo personals is also being accused of setting up "dummy" profiles to make it appear there are more people signed up than there are.

i hope they throw the bookshelf, too. i wouldn't pay 4 it either since other stuff is free -- especially chat. yahoo used 2 b free at one time. then they started sending surveys, asking if u would pay 4 it. never have n never will! something better n free is always popping up.
how can anyone in good conscience say fork over the cash n we promise so many matches/dates? well, i guess u can if they're on the payroll.

kabooby im on POF and im not going to mention any names but ive had alot of bad luck trying to meet girls so if it was true that they set up fake dates i would have a storm of girls wanting to meet me.
But as someone else said its FREE so its stupid of them to do that.
Match.com has always had its site in the headlines about people getting ripped off and false charges on people's credit cards.

If you'll notice, Yahoo has the same profiles shown 3 and 4 times in your search criteria. Ive seen em do this for a long time. I haven't had an ad on Yahoo personals since Oct 2002 for that very reason, it was a rip off.  imagine that.
