It happens every now and then.. everybody does it.. misspells words or uses the wrong spelling for a word, or writes in non grammatically correct format.. So why do some of you feel compelled to post "only to correct" the poster? .. Does it justify (to yourself) your perception of superiority? Or are you so anal about things that you just cannot help it? In my opinion it is just being rude, and shows that you have issues.....

(added here......Have a nice day Mo..... )

I'm a wannabe journalist. What do you expect?

I've been lashed at for correcting people, but that's because I'm anal too; there's a lot of posts I have read (not including MD) where I can't understand a word the person typed. It's distracting. Abbreviations are good and slang is fine, but people who continuously type like that are bound to have sloppy writing habits.

However, I'm not one to correct anymore. If I don't understand a post, I won't read it. Sometimes I do it purely out of sarcasm, but only towards those who constantly and repeatedly make threads like that.

Talk about rude and issues FeliciVagano, does calling someone a "loser" which you enjoy doing, justify to yourself your superiority?

Guess I have issues.

I've done it, especially if the person has turned the sentence into something funny by sticking in the wrong word. I also do it if the person is being a royal pain in the arse.

I understand there are those who really can't spell, and I leave them be. It's the lazy ones who bug me. The ones who have the ability to look up a word, but they don't give a hoot. It can make their posts look pretty rediculous, especially if they are trying to be philosophical. An occasional booboo is no biggie.

I'm not certain I would let someone's critique insult me so much I would start a new thread over it, but I have to admit, I did once create a thread about lengthy posts.

your point is? that I have issues and need to justify my superiority by posting here? that is a stretch janika..

But If I am guilty.. I am in good company..

BTW..your posting this in itself shows the world that you have issues with me... thinking you should either stick to the topic.. or get some help with your issues...

( here is the thread...
http://www.matchdoctor.com/thread_88_11260_1/Bin_Ladin_in_declining_health.html
after several complex?? posts back and forth I did call a poster a loser..)

I am not insulted about it.. as I was not the one that was critqued.. I just thought/think it was rude to post only for the purpose to critique a post.. just as janika did here....

Could be their own insecurities showing through.....what or how someone types or if they misspell....doesnt bother me at all.....but then I dont tend to be anal...or feel the need to feel superior....I look at a persons insides and their brains...and their honesty and compassion for others....that's what really counts....

When I see someone needing to correct those things in others.....I see their shallowness and passive aggressive tendencies....

I've posted before that I was born to be an editor, but I try to control it. I have to admit though, that if I cut and paste a quote that contains a misspelling, I'll normally correct it along the way.

For the most part (IMHO) yes.
I guess I figure md to be a place where people are looking to be friends.
Insults aren't very "friendly".

On the other hand....
I love catching some of these self-proclaimed intellects in their own errors!
And for these individuals that so love "ridicule"... I figure they enjoy the same back. I have however found them to be the most defensive about their "mishaps".

Then again..... there are some errors that DO put a whole new "twist" on what was meant to be said... "Catching" these "bloopers" should I hope be fun for everyone and not be taken as "picking on" anyone.

I'm horrible about mixing tenses among my many other faults.

Gee....
I wonder why it's always been that when upon meeting someone new, it's always been ... "Hello, how do you do?" rather than, "Hello, how do you spell?"

If you happen to be throwing a fit (like a frustrated little angry child) because you feel that you may be losing a debate in a forum, then it is very possible that you might launch attacks against the grammer of the person posting instead of issue or forum subject.
It makes the attacker look like they are in grade school when they do that. It also confirms that they are indeed losing and have resorted to character flaws of the poster. Basically they have run out of bullets and have resorted to harsh language as a last ditch effort.

Sticks and Stones might break some bones, but names (or sarcasm), who really gives a crap? Kinda rhymes

Anyway here is a little tip
When you see the name calling thing going on, it means that person is on the run or on the defense, so do what you will with that.

Ut-oh I goofed

Um, Always,

It's S-A-R-C-A-S-M.

I couldn't resist.

Losing? I NEVER (well, rarely) lose, and I'm not passive-aggressive, I'm plain old AGGRESSIVE. LOL!

Here's one I recently had a hard time with.

And that deffenitly is a deal breaker for me.

If you claim to have intelligence, use it...and spellcheck.

I'm different with different people. I don't think it has anything to do with someone losing an argument. When I throw in the spelling insults is when the conversation has already turned insulting...or boring.

it's not necessarily polite to call out someone on a simple spelling or grammatical error. I type rather fast and am not always the most diligent about proof-reading so i'm sure many of my posts have some dumb and stupid spelling/grammatical errors.

It would depend on who's doing the correcting. In knowing that i make a lot of silly mistakes - if it was someone that i felt - based on the merits of their posts - was just teasing and being silly, i might not like it but might not make a big deal out of it - just depends.

As for you Felici - it seems more and more readily apparant, that your pompous, authoratative on everything attitude is winning you less and less friends and more and more people are seeing you for the fraud that you are. I am so glad (but not surprised) that so many people are seeing you for what you are. I myself, will be happy to help everyone see this.

You bring this on yourself - you have to realize this. You have a snotty, snooty way about you - you belittle people and their opinions, when people try to have intellectual debates, you skirt the issues (always), or you bend the truths, or you totally ignore the debate but you make sure that you still respond with some childish 3 year old series smiley sleeping icons.

Is it any wonder that with every passing day - more and more people grow to immensly dislike the person you project yourself to be on these threads.

gosh, i hope for your sake that in real like you're a better person than your internet persona, or in the very least - that you do a good job of hiding the "real you" - if the internet is you're real persona.

F.V.- I used to attempt to correct people's grammer but found it pointless after a while. Plus, for some reason the "t" and "n" keys on my computer stick sometimes.

I didn't do it for superiority. It is just my obsessive compulsive tendencies.
