I'm starting to think that all this site has on it is a bunch of people bad mouthing and wasteing time. Why join it then, when you could go to a site like myspace or xanga and do that.
Leave sites like this for people who are actualy looking for a relationship.

Offhand, I'd say it's an excellent way of separating the wheat from the chaff. If you find someone's posts repellent or upsetting, that immediately eliminates him or her from your search. On the other hand, if you find a kindred spirit, regardless of where or how old they are, or even what gender, you may well have found a friend; and sometimes those very rude posts are the ones that invite others to weigh in on threads they might otherwise have just ignored.
The mods do an excellent job of keeping things from getting totally out of control. I'm no fan of rudeness, but just as in the real world, some people enjoy confrontation more than others...it's nice being able to identify them before making any other contact with them!

shannon, you have to look at the relationship choices granted by matchdoctor. one of those is "talk/email" which covers anything involving the forums.
it isn't always about finding a long lasting relationship, dating, or marriage. many of the forum posters are here for friendship or just talk.

Shannon it happens on every site. I stopped going into chat rooms because of the childish behaviour some people have. I seldom go into chat room here.
Yes, the forums tend to be the same way. I myself have no time for rude and obnoxious people. You do have a choice but on sites like this what can you expect? I always told my daughter, you cannot control other people, but you can control yourself. Yes, I have "let loose" and told someone off in chat but I was having a weak moment to let myself get dragged down to their level. It's not worth it and I truly believe what goes around ....comes around.
Set standards for yourself and not set them for other people for you shall be highly disappointed.

my opinion even though small, is you don;t have to be on the forums to have rude people, just look around in real life. There are rude people everywhere. You just don;t acknowledge those people.

Although the aggravating people are certainly an annoyance, it's very useful to see how people treat one another. It's helped me in the past to eliminate some potential dates before we got to investing time in one another.
Now, I just read the boards because my doctor tells me my blood pressure is too low; this is therapy.
Seriously, though, Best wishes for finding the right one here. It can be done, I'm living proof.

Dude...it's free. As a matter of fact, right under the Matchdoctor logo it says: Free community for singles and friends. What I find most amusing is the fact that you've posted a grand total of 8 times, yet feel that labeling "so many of us" as rude, bad mouthed time wasters is actually something you're qualified to deduce? You're only seeing what you want to see, and that's negativity. Try reading the rest of the posts, Shannon. What you'll actually find is an often times supportive community of people that genuinely care for one another.

I'm starting to think that all this site has on it is a bunch of people bad mouthing and wasteing time. It's called reality. Why would people in general be different on this particular site than on any other online or "live" gathering place?
Guess you miscalculated your expectations. You came here with prejudice that somehow things would be different just because "people are here looking for relationships". And so you set yourself up for disappointment.
People are the same anywhere you put them.

Oh wait, I got it. Shannon is mad because we didn't tell her what she wanted to hear in the other thread she started.
Next time I'll just nod my head, I promise.

Very well put DD and MP. Both excellent points, and I couldn't have said it better myself. I'll add my own twist.
As DD said, this is a community. Many of us are already friends. Even the ones that aren't on a friendly basis engage in all kinds of discussion -- political, sociological, religious, the banal, etc. It's a lot of fun.
And, if anyone really takes offense, then I'm sure the offender, at least me and everyone else I know here, would disengage.
I've only seen a couple of examples of someone really being rude. A couple. And there are a LOT of posts going on here...
Null!

Dont worry you didnt miss much.......... Mary verbally inflicted a dose of reality Sponge Kicked her chair Princess Di dismissed her for not having enough experience Katt Pulled her hair and then asked if it offended her
You know our usual welcome. By the way someone needs to tell her to wear short sleeves next time. She'll have less to wear her emotions on. Here or anywhere, Life's a B_t_h.

Shannon, come now - if you ask for peoples opinions you have to take the bad with the good. here or in the real world there are all types of people so why not just accept it/ deal with it.
we are human after all - we make mistakes - and we learn from them.

Now, this is the first thread that I read as I am a new member(15minutes) and just had to read some of the other ones to see how rude some are and failed to find them. Maybe I didn't look in the right ones. I do not wear my heart on my sleeve long or short so that may be the reason, could you point me in the correct direction?

Now, this is the first thread that I read as I am a new member(15minutes) A lot of us are long time members and treat each other as old friends, sarcasm and well meaning insults and all. If you can take it, we'll be here to dish it out day or night.

If I'm rude to someone it's usually in the politics forum and that's just how I debate. I don't hold any actual grudges against these people, I actually like them aside from their political opinions, and I hope they feel the same way about me.
Shannon, I remember I emailed you once, just to be friendly, and you responded to me in kind of a curt, maybe rude manner. Pot calling kettle black?
