I came back strictly to email a few people on here.
Seems to me that spending time on a computer really doesn't do much for my mindset about things that matter. This war matters. My life matters. Whether you agree with my point of view? Doesn't matter.
Take this stupid war. I'm angry as hell about that. The Canada I grew up in doesn't do violence and we sure as hell don't war. And yet where are we? And they want MORE kids to send over to kill? I have issues with that. If you grew up with it then it's not as harsh but I didn't. So yeah maybe I'm hypersensitive to it because I'm not "numb" to it. Death to me is real and you're going to die one day but does it have to be fighting for some cause that I don't know that I really believe in? There are too many other things to see in life and this computer ..well..it has it's purpose but it's limited.
I have a yellow ribbon on my car and my house now. That says I support my Canadian troops. MY troops. I don't support what they're doing but that they have the courage to go and "do" what they think is the right thing. Sorry but I wouldn't put my ass on the line and especially not for this war. Nor any war. My son will not ever fight in any war. Ever. And you can take that one to the bank. And I would be the first person to open my doors to someone who doesn't want to go and fight in a war. Call me what you will. At the end of the day that person I take in? Will still be alive, unlike the "disposable" resources being slaughtered now. I can't arbitrarily "blow off" that people are a casualty of war and that soldiers "know they might not come home". Well that's really nice to be able to spout that shit but if it's your own? Time to get "un-desensitized" to it and allow the full impact to hit you where it hurts the most.

I've tried to understand this war and I can't. It does not make sense to me. The reasons that have been given are completely bullshit. It's about politics and oil it seems.
And Im not willing to die for oil OR some other country's politics and that seems to be what's going on here. Maybe it's a good thing that the person who rules this country isn't me because I'd be telling someone (probably Bush) to jam it up his ass. I know that will probably piss off a few "diehards" but hey, it's how I feel.
I've learned some great things from some truly inspiring folks on here and that I'll take with me. I think I'm probably going to have to join a peace activist group becaues that would be far more "living" than sitting on here ever could be. At least I'll be moving towards doing something ...rather than rotting at a keyboard. And that is how I feel. If I can do nothing else with my life besides grow a wonderfully healthy child, then I can at least try to understand the rest of the world and help others make sense of it.
Maybe they'll see that dying ain't so special... but living is.

And i know what you mean about the war... if it helps at all to think about what a coworker told me when her husband was sent overseas..better to fight on their soil than ours...
what a crazy world..

I think she is awesome in her passion for her belief's and she will be missed.
I feel the same way about this horrible war. I myself have debated getting off the forum, but I think the good outweighs the bad.
Wish I could join her in a group, but my health doesn't allow that for me anymore. I did my part trying to stop the war from happening. I can only hope there are enough people out there like dar that will try to stop it. If there ever is a large enough number to rise up against it, I will join them, if I have to do it from a wheelchair!
She may come back one day. I hope so.

When my son David was talking about emigrating to Israel and of course that means automatically joining the army....I told him....You could be killed.......you could be disabled....but the thing I worry about most is how you would cope with killing someone else or watching your friends be killed...if you lived.
They have a term for it ...post traumatic stress
It's a little different in Israel....they have seen so many die that 'weren't' soldiers...and... if they hadn't fought back...the Arab threat of 'annihalating' them and ''pushing them into the sea'' could have been fulfilled......but .....even knowing that.....I 'still' gave him my honest human 'mother's' reaction
